The 6th gen BOSE system is a POS

It is an ok sounding system when it works, however, my CD changer has a habit of skipping constantly when it feels like it. So one day it is allright and might skip a few times per song and other days it skips the same second of a song 10+ times and you just want to punch the thing, which I have. I had it replaced (under warrenty) with about 30k and it was allright until now, where it is even worse then ever before. Thanks BOSE for costing me a new head unit, bracket, and installation just to hear CD's in a $30k car. Atleast I will get Mp3 capability now, but it is still a joke this changer is so flawed. I dont even know what it could be that is causing it. Ive heard bose is nothing but overpriced trash backed with tons of marketing hype and this could not be a better example! 2X!

Thanks for re-affirming the long known facts.

Sorry you had to learn about it the hard way.

Anyways, at least you've got a better cd player (hopefully) now.

I havent chosen any replacement in the hopes someone on here might know of a way to make it work but I doubt anyone does. In 4 yrs I have never heard anyone else talk about this in the 6th gen forum, perhaps here but I dont know.

You had the headunit replaced once under warranty, then it broke again...were you out of warranty when it went out the second time? I was really satisified with the Bose system for quite a while, only added some subs to it. I've got 56k on my car and my Bose only plays out of the right channel 90% of the time. I plan on replacing it with an Alpine when I get some money.

Nope, I have 29k on my '06 now and it does the same thing -- has been since around 20k and I am getting fed up. I am going to have the stealership look at it next week and probably replace it, but all this i am hearing isn't reassuring.

Mine especially does it when it's cold. It's a $35,000 car with a $900 stereo option; I sure didn't pay for it only when it's warm -- especially when I live in Washington State!

I had first hand experience with this POS this morning. It got down to 18 degrees last night and I went to start my car and sure enough no radio and no cd sound. I traveled about 5 miles, turned the car off and then back on after about 5 min. and it came back on. Is this pretty normal? Bose should stick to the home systems. They suck when it comes to temp. changes.

The only problem I've had with the Bose system is that in those rare occassions I decide to listen to a C.D. (ended up getting the iPod connection because of the following problem) my left, driver side speaker fades out. It could be working perfectly one minute, but than the next, it just goes completely quite on the left side speaker. I know it's the C.D. unit because with my iPod I have no such problem, nor when I've decided to try the radio. Never had the issue with the skipping though.

ive got an 04 max with the bose system and the same problem im seeing you guys have, im having to! i thought it was wierd when i would try 2 hear a cd and the sound would be from balanced to just playing trough the right speakers and fade from left 2 right and sumtimes 2not playing at all, when it was working fine through the radio, know im forced to use my ipod through the tape deck,i mean does any1 know what a true solution could be if there is any without going completly aftermarket, i want 2 add a sub for a little more bass, but i think the problem is in the head unit/ cd player, but im not sure, anyways thanks !
