2002 Maxima w/ Navigation,Bose Question

I have a 2002 Maxima w/ Navigation and Bose. I am looking to replace the whole audio system but had some questions. I haven't opened up the console yet.. and was just wondering.. does anyone know how the navigation integrates w/ the stock head unit?? Is there simply an audio input that goes into the stock head unit to mute when the navigation voice is being played?? Is the 2002 w/ Navigation wiring harness the same as the 2001??

I can't seem to find anything specific for the 2002 yet, so I was wondering if the 2001 harnesses and such will suffice.

I'm planning to put in a Eclipse 7002, and was wondering if I could somehow integrate the navigation without losing my inputs (cell phone mute some how??)

Thanks

I have the same ?

DTV,

If you are still around, what did you end up doing? I have a new Kenwood KDC-X817 with MB Quart "Q" series that I want to replace the Bose with. Can I use my aftermarket unit and still have the navi work along with possibly steering controls?

So I can add my CD player under the navigation and still have the navigation work, along with the steering controls if I get the aftermarket part from PAC?

Thanks.

Did PAC "fix" the SWI-X so the trip computer now works? The thread dated 11/7/2001 about "trip computer" does not indicate that a "fix" was found. There was no follow-up posted. Also, the PAC website says "under research" for the 2k2 Max.

thanks

Any details you can share? I got the below reply from Karl at PAC when I asked him the status of the SWI-X and the Trip computer:

>>>
Unfortunately we have not been able to get our hands on a 2002 Maxima. I have asked our local car audio shops to give us a call if they do get one in so we may do some research on it. We do have other projects on priority, so we have the Maxima on hold until a shop gives us a call. Of course this does not guarantee we will make one.

Thank you,

I want to replace my BOSE head unit with a JVC KD-SH99, but have it on hold till this "trip computer" issue has a solution.

thanks

I am pretty sure that www.crutchfield.com has them for sale. I think I read that somewhere.

any way we can hookup Karl and "Car Toys" so PAC can get the official "fix" or hook-up out the general public?

If you could send Karl an email with the info, I am sure he would appreciate it alot!

thanks

2002 Maxima and Altima has been researched. Maxima brn/wht wire needs to be grounded, and Altima ( if anyone on this forum cares ) lavender wire needs to be grounded. If you guys get the SWI-X from Crutchfield, make sure you have the most recent instructions which can be downloaded from our site.
