problem with PAC install

I just installed the PAC OEM-1 adapter for my BOSE for an added amp/sub. My problem is that the sub only hits when it is on FM/AM. the Amp doesnt even turn on when in CD or Tape. any reason behind this? everything was hooked up correctly.

Thanks.

does the PAC piece give you a remote wire? your remote needs to be connected to an ignition/accesory source. It seems its hooked up to the power antenna line or something, thus your amp only powers on on am/fm.

yeah it does have a remote line. looking at the instructions from the manual of the amp, it says the remote line from the amp should plug in to the HU, which i assumed would be the PAC. im not really sure where the PAC remote line goes and the amp remote line goes. but right now they are connected with each other.

excuse my noobness in this section...

Just tap the remote turn on lead for one of your rear Bose amps.

ok.

im guessing that the single blue wire coming out of the PAC is the remote wire correct? and that i can wire to any 12V power source that turns on when ign is turned. im probably making this more complicated than it really is...

Generally you only want your amp on when your head unit is on. You may get a loud pop from your speakers if you turn on/off your head unit when your amp is powered up.

As you found out, the blue wire on the Bose is for the antenna and only is live when the radio function is selected. The Bose head unit uses an external relay to supply power to all the amps

You have a choice.

You should be able to tap the Green/White wire coming out of the 6-pin connector on the back of the Bose head unit. This is the amp turn on signal. It should be able to supply enough juice to energize the relay and turn your amp on.

It may be easier for you just to tap the red wire going into any of the Bose amps though..

95-99 factory Bose uses a G/W coil wire for the amp turn on relay.

There is no turn on signal for each amp. They all get Power (R), Ground (B) and signal(assorted colored pairs)
