2k2 HU Replacement Help

Well after about an hour.. finally got the console out!! But I have some questions.. on the back of my stock bose HU, there are 4 plugs. I ended up buying a 2k1 wiring harness which comes with 2 plugs. These 2 plugs fit the 2 bottom plugs of the stock HU, but I do not know what the 2 top plugs do. Anyone have any idea?? I'm thinking its for the changer.. am I right??

this is for a 2k2 max right?--i believe one is for the trip computer and the other is for the steering wheel controls--when i replaced my HU (2k2 max)these were the only two things not fully operational

Matt-
Thanks for the help.. I forgot about the steering wheel controls. Did you ever look into getting that PAC thing from Crutchfield which lets you use the steering wheel controls w/ an aftermarket HU?? As for the trip computer, why would it need to connect to the HU?? All of it has nothing to do w/ sound doesn't it (except maybe the beeping).

So you did not connect those plugs correct?? Ijust put mine in, didn't connect those plugs, and everything seems operational.

the guys at the stereo place said the PAC steering wheel adapter might work, but they said it would be better for the PAC company to come out with one that explicity says for 2k2 max

You are right.. my trip computer does not work w/ the aftermarket head unit. I wonder why it would even need to integrate with the stock head unit.. seems as if it has nothing to do with audio. Now all I get is outside temperature, and no way to change it.

Anyone know if there is a way to get your trip computer working with an aftermarket head unit?? Anyway to connect some wires from the 2 plugs I didn't plug in to get it to work??

i JUST thought of this:
maybe if you kept the bose stero in there with everything plugged in (except the speakers) and fed it power somehow, the trip comp. could be reactivated--this would only work if there's room behind your new HU--give it a try and let me know how it works out
good luck,
matt
