The BOSE Radio/Speaker Replacement thread
I know that much but just below the nav is a single din Bose cassette am/fm hu (I can play CDs with 6 cd changer in the trunk and thru the nav unit itself), I just wanna replace the factory Bose hu and keep the nav unit.
I can assume this info is here some where, but i have been surfing for hours with no way to get specific answer :-\
Sorry for the Noob question. I am just not familiar with anything concerning the electronic is the Infiniti i30 1996 car that i recently bought.
I really want to replace the CD/RADIO system with a nice Sony Or Pioneer one.
Can some one please help me and guide me what can i buy. What do i need to look for in the New system. Would It harm the speakers. Would it work perfectly with the surround system in the car? Is there anything special i need to know regarding the installation (any frequency changes?)
Thanks

Because your question is extremely general, or because you didn't realize you reached the answer when you saw it. It's within this thread itself, but now I've answered it for you, up one post.

I Got a 95 Maxima with the BOSE sound system. well its worked well for a long time now only my screen went out and comes on when it wants to. it will work for about an hour a month id say. well just 2 days ago it stopped playing music. it has power takes the cds and plays radio but no sound at all. so im thinking the radio went out.
Where can i get a replacement BOSE or where can i get it repaired at? and how much? i do not wanna put a aftermarket one in.

Agree. Go aftermarket. It will be cheaper, and will sound better in the end.
Why are you against replacing with aftermarket? If cost OR installation are worrying you, then maybe this will change your mind. (shameless plug)

Great unit, cheap, comes prewired.

if there's no sound it could either be the bose fuse (which i think there's two of em') or either the relay that power's the amps.
when i first bought my 4th gen it had an awia cd player with pioneer's 6.5's. sound like ****. turns out trhey had by passed the bose amps. so i put the bose amps and speaker's back in. sound better but not quite there. and it was'nt loud.
got a factory head unit...imo it's loud. pretty good bass. excellent clarity!
some aftermarket head units are good some are'nt.
and i just did the aux. hook-up mod too.

I have an 03 5th gen with Bose and I'm about to completely replace the audio system.
I'm a bit confused about the dash kit I'll need for my new double din Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD. The Metra fit guide shows that the dash kit in this original post won't work with Bose. It says to use the Metra 95-7416G and not the95-7417.
I can't find the 95-7416G anywhere but here: http://bicostereo.com/index.php?act=...productId=5301
Is a kit required for a double din aftermarket unit?
Is this this right kit?
Any suggestions as to where to buy it?
Thanks in advance!!

95-7416G is the shape you need - based on the looks of it.
The 95-7417G does not look to be the right shape.
Scosche also makes a double din kit that you can look at.
And you can also get the GXE dash kit if you want it to look 100% OEM (at a price, it's about $130)
Lastly, please change your font and size back to standard.

This is the easiest way to hook up to the factory speakers using an aftermarket HU...

hey, i have an 02 maxima and i stopped getting output from my driver door speaker. its not blown or anything i tried 2 other speakers n still nothing. i have a bose system w/o a nav. how do i fix this problem? and also is it easier jus 2re-wire the whole car if im gettin new interior speakers all around n a aftermarket h/u?
Common problem. Replace your head unit with an aftermarket one. You DON'T have to re-wire your car or change out your speakers if you replace your head unit only.
If you decide you want to change your speakers, then yes you have to re-wire the car.
Personally I'd start with the HU only. It will make your Bose speakers sound better anyway.

Hertz makes good products. I didn't even know that Soundstream make decks.
Need a budget for amp recommendation. Do you already have the sub? If not, I have a pair of 10's for sale, in a box.

I dnt have a budget really...jus wanna see wuts out there 1st. Idk if i want 8's, 10's, or 12's...i wanna sound like i have 2 12's but w/o the weight, i kno sounds gay n undecisive
Nah, everyone has their own preference. I was in the same boat - I was concerned with trunk space. There are very deep and boomy 10's that 'sound like 12's.'
My suggestion is to get a big 5 or 6 channel amp that will power both your interior speakers and your subs. But you're looking at spending 500-800 for that type of amp in a decent brand.

New HU
Hey everyone,
Noob here, hope I’m not posting in the wrong place.
Just got a 2000 SE with 100k, one owner. So far so good, it’s a pretty sweet ride.
Anyway, looking at getting a Kenwood KDC-X993. I have read enough to know what I need for install and plan on doing it myself.
Anyone know if this HU will work, since the preamp outs are only 4v?
Also, I guess I’ll just wait and see if there any whine or pop before doing anything additional.
Thanks,
Q
