Don't just check relevant fuses. Check every fuse. And check every fuse in both fuse boxes under the hood as well.

Thanks man, checked all fuses, all were good, then I came to the last fuse which is kinda hidden at the very top of the set under the steering wheel, the one you really have to be down there to see. That one was dead. Replaced that and all is well. Fixed the keyless entry problem as well as the stereo getting power.

The dumb thing is while I was raging last night about the issue(s) I found a post via google that mentioned this exact fuse as either fixing the fob problem or the radio, and I didn't try that first.

This is why I'm not a scientist.

HD Radio on '12 Max SV

Hi,

Any experiences with adding HD tuner or changing the HU to get HD Radio?
If changing the HU, do you lose any information display?
Regards

Can the OP put a "best speakers for this budget" in the first post? That'd be great help. Rather than searching the whole thread for it.

No, because that is not what this thread is about.

What year is your car? What information are you concerned about losing?

Does anyone know if Pioneer (I was thinking about these) has a good rep with a 2003 Maxima? I have the stock radio, and I just want to replace the speakers.

Replace the radio first. It will make your stock speakers sound better.

What is your reasoning for replacing the speakers and not the radio?

It's much easier to replace your radio than it is to replace your speakers. And replacing your radio will help to 'prep' the car for if/when you do replace the speakers.

I just bought a 2002 I35 with an aftermarket stereo (Sony Single DIN). The car has an amp mounted on the rear seat and 2 subwoofers in the trunk in a box. I was wondering if I can remove the Bose sub (currently unplugged), buy an 8" sub and replace the BOSE sub and connect it to the current amp, removing the sub box. Which free air sub would you recommend. I just want to get the box out and have decent bass. Thanks!

I'm not that up to date on the latest free-air subs, I'll let someone else answer that.

However as long as overall wattage and impedance remains the same between your current subs and your new sub, it is logistically VERY possible.

Thank you djfrestyl . I figured that I would be able to mount the 8" sub on the trunk relatively easily. Now the big question is which free air sub. This is my winter car and I only plan to keep it till March till I get myself a newer car so I dont want to spend too much on it. I have a laundry list to fix in the car.

Happy to help.

Try calling Crutchfield and ask their opinion. They're generally very knowledgeable and can help you select one, and ensure its a good mate for your current amp. You don't need anything crazy considering it's just a winter car you'll be keeping for ~6 months.

Just FYI - you should plan to mount a wooden board to your rear deck then mount the sub to that wooden board. 1/2" MDF should be sufficiently strong.

Seems alright. Good price for basic use. Compatibility is good with your current amp?

Yes but you'll also need an LOC because it's got 2v preamp voltage.

Okay thanks. And are those pretty easy to install? Do they mound anywhere behind the stereo or is it just left hanging?

They're pretty easy to install. No physical mounting. Usually you tuck it behind the radio. Use your judgement.

Well, this is neither here nor there so I decided to post it here. Look at this Craigslist posting by a local guy near St. Louis (My sincere apologies if the said poster is on the org.)

I believe so. My new JVC arrived today and I am just waiting on the Metra 99-7417 since Crutchfield doesn't stock it and the one they send everyone complains about. My main question is how to ground the new HU since it and the 70-7551 both have ground wires and I don't want to cause a ground loop.

I have a 2004 I35. I already have a Panasonic stereo wired to the PAC-NISM2. I now want to add the Axxess ASWC so I can get my steering wheel audio controls to work with the aftermarket radio. Will it be difficult to add the Axxess ASWC? Will I have to splice a lot wires again and re-soldier everything? The aftermarket radio is working fine right now but a friend of mine helped me wire the stereo to the PAC NISM2 & he moved out state recently so I'm going to attempt to add the Axxess ASWC on my own. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

This unit has 2.5v preouts. You need a Line Output Converter.
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_142SLC4/Scosche-SLC4.html

You don't have to get the Metra dash kit. All you need is an OEM pocket.

What is a PAC NISM2?

Axxess is pretty easy to install. You'll have to splice or solder two wires. Nothing has to be redone, you're just adding on.

Can anyone link me to a thread or something using the stock Bose speakers and amp with an aftermarket HU? I've been skimming through a bit and searching but I'm a complete newb when it comes to this. This is the wire harness that came with my HU http://www.crutchfield.com/p_120707551/Receiver-Wire-Harness.html?tp=2977

Sorry I meant the PAC ROEM-NIS2 which is basically a wiring harness that I used to integrate the aftermarket stereo to the stock Bose speakers.

Ah, that's what I thought.

Axxess ASWC has nothing to do with current PAC install - except if you tap wires for power/ground.

i got a few questions on this topic. if anyone could message me answers to help would be great i dont get on here alot to check and when i do i dont got much time.

1st. i had a 1996 nissan maxima. i bought it with an aftermarket radio( i dont think there was a bose system ever in it none of the speaker covers have bose on them) i couldnt tell u they were aftermarket speakers when i got it and i changed them after that. soo. my car was totaled so i bought a 1997 nissan maxima it came with a bose radio system. worked good but could have had a better sound. i planed on keeping it but i wanted the aux could and i read alot on here that the bose speakers sound good once u change the radio. so i did plus the volume up and down was gettin messed up so i took it out.

i used the wire adatper from the 96 for the after market radio. pluged it and the speeakers didnt work so i came in side did myy reading and came to the speakers AMPS need to turn on and they run on an amp switch/wire just like an amp for subs would. so i rewired the hole harness and i connected it to the car and only the back speakers came on.(sounded reallllly good.) so i was gettin mad why the front wont turn on so i took the hole harness inside matched up colors to the digram on here(the plug prongs on the digram have numbers is wat i went off of.) i pluged it back in the car and the radio comes on but no sound. the speckers are hooked correctly i hear the relay come on for the speakers it clips everytime i unhook the wire for the amp/switch.

nect i hooked the old bose radio up and it come on plays cds but no sound at all. and all i did was unhooked the aftermarket harness from factory and hooked it the the bose. now im gettin mad.

if anyone could help it would be great. i checked the fuses under the dash under the hood all them message me answers like i said barrly come on here and when i do i dont got much time. sorry for being long trying to give as much detail as possible. thanks

Hi...

First, no one is going to spoon feed the info. If you need it, then make an effort to return to the site to get it.

Second, the aforementioned info cannot be provided until you provide more information yourself:

What makes you think the way a harness was wired for non-Bose is the same way it should be wired for Bose?
What is the preout voltage of your aftermarket head unit?

This thread should provide you with ample information in order to wire your aftermarket deck properly.

Ok so another question....Ill be picking up another 4th Gen this weekend coming up & I believe it has a Bose system...I want to take out the speakers from my 95 Maxima *Non Bose* and put it in the new 97 4th Gen...Can I just disconnect the positive & negative wire to bypass the amp & connect it straight to my new replacement speakers with my new HU?
