Care to elaborate with details? What vehicle? What system? What EXACTLY is it doing?

its a 2000 quest, with an audiovox elvatoc aps2k4saw remote start system. i believe it was installed by the dealer. it hasn't been used in a couple of years (like 3 or 4), so i now decided to putit back into action. i went ahead and put a fresh battery in (13 dollars worth) and when i went to use the remote it didnt work so i went under the steering wheel and jiggled around the box and it started opening and closing with the remote. then i tryed starting it, it went to start and started but it didnt stop starting it kept going for about 2 to 3 seconds and then it stoped and the car stayed on.

so it just continues cranking without starting? My first guess is that the tach needs to be reprogrammed... if it was connected that is.

Where are you located? you'll probably need to take it to someone who knows what they're doing.

no, it cranks and starts, but continues to crank after staring for a couple seconds, then it stops cranking and stays on.

Definitely sounds like the tach. New battery = needs to be relearned.

so let me see if i understand. the remote start system uses the tach to shut off the starter when it reaches a certain rpm?

is it too complicated as for you to explain how to reset the "tach". i have a little know how but a little explanation would be helpful.

You would have to do a search for the manual of that particular model. I dont touch em, so I have no clue as to their process.
