New aftermarket stereo pic and questions

I had a new pioneer deck installed and I knew i would lose steering wheel controls but now i cant switch from dte, mpg, etc. it just stays on dte... is all of this lost when installing an aftermarket deck? I had the deck professionally installed.

+1.....if you yank the HU out there will be a harness that was not connected to the aftermarket unit.

In that harness there is a brown/(white or silver stripe) wire. Cut it an inch or two back from the harness connector and ground it some place.

To gain the steering controls back he wants the pac unit specifically for the pioneer, the pac-swi-p. It plugs into the back of the unit. Works much better than the -x model.

How much did you end up paying for this setup with installation?

i love the term "professionally installed"
its always safe to make sure you will retain all other functions with an aftermarket install
but yes, it can be fixed via the previously provided solutions.

ground the brown wire as stated before.
I'm surprised they didn't at least offer you the PAC to retain the steering wheel controls for volume/next track/mode..Not so professional in my opinion.
