rear bose speakers stopped working

What would cause the rear speakers only to stop working but still have the front speakers working? The balance between front and back speakers is set at its neutral front and back speaker setting. This is a Factory Bose headunit too.

I'm sorry to be resurrecting such an old thread, but I can't believe that no one answered this question. I would like to know the answer too.

I'll be replacing my Bose speakers with another brand soon (the rear-deck "sub" is the only one to arrive, so far), and won't be needing the speakers after I get rid of them.

Any interest?

Also - I drive a 02 I35 with the Bose system. I think all my drivers are 6", though (including the rear-deck woofer)
