'96 Bose CD Player Displays "Err"

The tape deck and radio work fine, even the power antenna, but when I insert a CD it says "Err" and ejects it. Is there a simple fix for this? I've tried several CDs - burned and store-bought. Is there such thing as a "cleaning CD" that polishes the laser pickup? Any help would be appreciated.

Same problem

I have the same problem in my 96 I30. Did you ever find a fix for this issue? Thanks for any reply.

Its a big problem with the Maxima's Bose headunits, mot people search to figure out how to fix it. But any way, there is a way you can fix it, you can pay to get it repaired (its a problem in the headunit, you cant just clean it and it will be fine). It costs alot to get them repaired, so either repair it, replace it with a new Bose head unit, replace it with an after market headunit, or go with out a stereo.

Go aftermarket. Cheaper, and you get more features, better sound quality, the list goes on.

another HU bites the dust, and another one gone and another one gone, another HU bites the dust!!!

don't bother to get it fixed. I had my HU fixed 3 times, and said **** it, each time would last about 9 months and then go funky on me. Buy a new aftermarket deck is your best bet.

First of "tapes". I cant tell you the last time I listened to a tape. Hell, I dont even know if I own one anymore!?! lol!

Like the guys said, cheaper to go aftermarket. You'll spend a small fortune to get that boat anchor workin. Just find yourself a nice aftermarket.
