if you have the 6cd in-dash changer you can't use the usa spec ipod adapter.

If you're going to spend the $130 or whatever it is for the iPod ->Bose adapter, might as spend a little bit more and swap out your entire head unit. The additional cost is marginal, and the increase in sound quality (and versatility) will be exponential.

depends on what his tastes are. I chose the usa spec bc i'd rather keep the stock look. but yes, aftermarket does sound better than bose.

The best/cheapest way to do it, it just get that tape adaptor that comes from a portable cd player, or an mp3 player, and goes to the tape, I have one, but I dont know what its called. Its good for when your car doesnt have a cd player or you want to listen to your mp3 player and your car has a tape player.

I think people have had decent success with the Harman Kardon Drive n Play or whatever it's called.

I just gave up on all those things and swapped HUs to one with iPod capabilities.

as long as you have a 00 or 01 the usa spec will work. i have had no problems with mine. hk drive'n'play works well too, i believe soonerfan uses it (or at least used to).

The tape adaptor thing is good for most cars, like my sisters white Chrysler, because it doesnt have a CD player, the sound system(speakers) are basiclly screw, I made some custom temp. mounts in the front to mount 2 normal circle speakers, in the oval speaker spot.

Right now, I have a Stereo that has the aux. input, so right now, I just hook up a computer speaker wire, and thats it, I have nice sound, coming from my Ipod, to the system.

http://www.usaspec.com/ipod_product_sheets/pa11-nis.pdf

page 3 says it should work until the 06 max. anyone try this on a newer max with the bose?

Is it an in-dash 6cd changer or external? If it's external, it should work, if not, it more than likely won't.

+1

I'm about to buy an Ipod and just get the OEM adapter that Nissan sells from the dealer. I also have the Bose system with in-dash changer so I assume that is my only option.

The dealer can install it, and I am sure they will be happy to charge an extra $200 to do the install. It connects to the back of your radio. I plan to run the cables inside my middle console and run it up to the arm rest.

This can be self installed by anyone who knows how to use a screwdriver.
