Suggestions on rear speakers for 02

One of the factory speakers finally went out yesterday. I have SLC's up front and need suggestions on what rear speakers to get. I was thinking of getting another set of SLC components for the rear, but what do you guys think?
BTW - my budget is $100-$200.

SL coaxes. No need for components in the rear.

I would go with another set of componets imo but who am I. I just dont get the whole No rear fill law if staged properly and you have the power available I don't c what the problem is.

Ok I understand, but i guess it depends on the individuals listening pref and system tuning because I enjoy rear sound projection kinda like a surround sound effect.

^^^ Exactly. That's why we (should if you're not...) spend so much time tuning everything to get the subs to integrate with the front.

And with proper install and tuning, the sound will not seem as if it is coming from the speakers at all, but from in front of you (as it should...). Sorround-sound IMHO, shoud be left for the movies. Once the whole system is tuned correctly, there shouldn't sound as if ther's a black-hole of sound behind you. Echo/reflection/ect. will take care of that...

If you were to keep the extra power and money saved from not playing with rear-fill, you could invest that in some kickass equipment for the front. Trust me, you will get used to not having it sound like part of the band is behind you - it just takes some getting used to...

But I suppose to each his own also. You can't tell people what to like. (Even if it's wrong )

very true, however most people run rear fill just because they think they should rather than actual preference.

Well I understand it a little better now. And yes I probably could save some money and time not focusing on the rears also if I didn't insist on JL amps lol

rear fill isn't a matter of saving money, it's a matter of spending money on something that will hurt your sound quality.

jl amps are fine, and really aren't all that expensive. i don't know why ppl get all bent out of shape over jl. could you get better for less? sure. is it worth "blah, blah, blah, jl sucks, blah bah, blah"? naw. on the flip side, there's no reason to limit yourself to jl. you're not getting a superior product. i'm kinda fond of the new hd amps myself, but i doubt i would actually ever buy one.

I wouldn't say so much saving money, but re-directing it as money better spent elsewhere.

And as far as the JL-bashing goes; I really don't see the need for it either - at least until the fanboys start touting how "superior" their stuff is. I wouldn't say JL "sucks" by any means, but its also definately not the end-all be-all in audio either...

JL Sucksors.

/thread.

The main complaint about JL is overpriced mediocre equipment that sells for a premium.

Anyways all the rest has been covered. So I'll leave it alone.

There is only one stage. It is the one in front of you. There is no such thing as 'rear stage' or 'substage' etc. It simply doesnt exist in the real world.

If you prefer to have fill thats fine. There is no right or wrong to what you want. However if you insist on having it, make sure it is for the right reasons of your preference. It is a 'fill' or even just additional speakers thrown in. Surround doesnt exist in 2 channel stereo.

True I think im just used to the fill but I think I will just go with some coaxials in the rear it would save me alot of money and time and free up some power need for a new IB sub and wont have to run two amps. You guys win putting my second set up for sale, Don can you let me know how much the OA8 will run me??
