fixed the squekey window

Ok, since this problem has gotten worse with the colder weather and it was finally warm enough outside to see the problem was the window track not the regulator, i decided to tackle it. I don’t think it has a right up so here is my very first. So please go easy I searched and searched and found nothing to help.

The problem- squeaky window, window appearing to move off track about a 1/4 inch maybe less

What you will need- I used 1 Phillips head, a flat head, and wd-40(works but grease will work better)

Step 1- remove door panel as if to replace speakers, mine was on the driver side door
http://www.nicoclub.com/articles.php?id=157798
Step 2- my car had plastic with tar around the edges, carefully remove it, mine did not puncture but if it does I guess duct tape will fix it.
Step 3- get a beer (if you’re of age, if not a root beer)
Step 4- locate the track, it should be in the center of the door
Step 5- spray the lube () on one side of the track, then switch I went from the top side a better angle
Step 6- plug your switches in
Step 7- work the window up and down, if squeak is still present repeat 5-6.
Step 8- victory dance

Now my widow is on track and will update if anything happens

Good info mine squeeks but I thought it was the weatherstriping sliding on the window, I will check into this, this weekend when I do some other repairs.

I do agree I would have posted elsewhere, maybe in general max discussion, or 5th gen, or in a DIY thread somewhere, but at least you got the info out here.

Good write-up

try to ground it directly to the chassis if possible. i grounded my amps in the spare tire well. the seat bolt will work, but those bolts are often coated in locktite etc, and will increase eletrical resistance...so i don't really recommend it.
