Suggestions for compact amp for convertible
Was wondering what you guys think of these amps:
Audison SRX 4 - My local guy has it for $250 brand new, but lost the box/manual
Arc Audio KS 125.4 Mini - Anyone have experience with these amps?
I am looking to upgrade the speakers and add an amp in my 05 mr2 convertible. There is zero space in this car, so the smaller the better.
Most likely to mate the amp to Polk Audio MM6501 components based off my satisfaction with the Polk SR6500's in my Maxima.
Whichever components I install, I would like to bi-amp them. The speakers in the car are only wired to the front channel of the radio. I plan to use the front channel for tweeters and rear for mids. Adjusting fade will let me set the loudness of tweeters-mids relative to each other. Only problem right now is that the polk cross over does not support bi-amping and both amps dont to 3-4kHz for a high pass cutoff. I can probably score an extra set of cross overs cheap and one for each speaker.

Max Length: 15"
Max Height: 2"
Max Depth: 9", (prefer 5" and I can use the straps holding down the jack equipment)
These are the dimensions for the storage compartment behind the seats, however if a water drain gets plugged up, water can enter this compartment.
In a perfect world, there would be something <1" in height that I can fit under or behind the passenger seat and not overheat

I just picked up an ARC Audio KS125.2 Mini. I haven't gotten a chance to get it installed yet, but it has a very small footprint. I also have 2 ARC KS300.4's, and they have pretty small footprints also, for a 4 channel amp.

What do you guys think of a blaupunkt THA 475?
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...HA475PnP-.html
Sonic Electronix is an authorized dealer and $230 doesn't seem too bad. I think it is small enough to go under the passenger seat. Looking for something to sound good with Polk Audio MM6501 speakers (already purchased). I would be able to run the amp in 3 channel mode and power a small 8" sub.

Its all going to run off the factory radio to keep a dont-break-in-and-steal-my-crap look.

you can find them used sometimes, caraudio.com classifieds are your friend
so a/m speakers with a/m amp and stock head? you're using a processor right?

I wasn't planning on using a procesor, jsut the high level inputs on the amp or an loc. The car only has the front stage wired up to the radio from factory since its a 2 seater.

Even with an amp and aftermarket speakers, the signal from the stock headunit honestly is crap. I willing to bet it isn't going to sound as good as you hope. I'd hate to see you spend a lot of money on highend gear (you mentioned audison, Arc etc) only for it to sound mediocre in the end. I'd highly suggest a processor if you plan to keep the stock deck, or replace it all together with even something basic.

Rather than start a new thread, I'll add to this:
I scored a blaupunkt tha555 amp 5 channel amp for $200 on ebay. Based on the measurements it should be small enough to fit under the passenger seat.
-4 ohms: 55 watts x 4 chan. + 200 watts x 1 chan.
-2 ohms: 65 watts x 4 chan. + 250 watts x 1 chan.
-Bridged, 4 ohms: 150 watts x 2 chan. + 200 watts x 1 channel
Recently I've started considering using a real head unit. I thought about the Pioneer Premier FH-P800BT then saw an old thread comparing this to the eclipse. The eclipse 5030 catches my eye since it has a crossover as well as bluetooth. Does anyone know if the eclipse will support 3-way crossover. I'll need a bandpass for the mids. Otherwise I can use the included crossover with the speakers to limit the upper end and cut off the low end on the deck. If I go the new head unit route, would it be a bad idea to run the tweeters from the HU and bridge the 4 channels to feed the mids? I'm not sure if I can bridge the amp and run all the speakers through the polk crossovers since it is 2.7 ohm and the amp is 4ohm stable in bridged mode. Otherwise I can just bi-amp the speakers, but I wanted to give more headroom for the mids.
Haven't decided on a sub. Want something small (like 8") and cheap. There's only 1.9 usable cu feet of storage in this car and I want to use the least of it. Might go with a polk mm804. I'll figure it out later, want to worry about the head unit and best way to wire it up.

soundsolutionaudio has the AVIC F90BT for $740

Thanks for the alpine suggestion. The blaupunkt has dimensions of: 14"L x 6-1/4"W x 1-1/2"H which should be good enough for under my passenger seat.
A "real" head unit won't last too long in a softtop roadster
