Do i need this or should i use this harness? I read in a post on this forum that i should use this harness, instead of the the normal harness that comes with the head unit installation kit? Crutchfield says this harness does not fit my '04 Maxima w/bose w/o nav.

 

If you want to install an aftermarket HU into your car with Bose, this is the harness you need.

 

thanks, i installed the hu over the weekend, this harness worked perfectly.

 

even if you have Bose, and don't have this harness, you can effectively make it out of some old RCAs and a regular harness... thats what I had to do, because I'm a fool and ordered the wrong one.

 

It works in the reverse fashion as well, if you want to add an aftermarket amp to the stock HU.

 

+1 for the metra harness. I just used this harness and it worked perfectly...but still have that darn POP issue when changing inputs or radio stations.

 

That's either your amp or your HU.

 

Wait, I'm having the same "Pop" issue with my GF's install. We have an alpine unit with 4v RCA outputs.

I used the metra 70-7551. I soldered all connections, and grounded the black wire from the HU directly to the chassis. For the other two grounds (the ones coming out of the harnesses), I tapped the HU ground.

We also are only getting sound from the rear speakers (well we get a real weak one from the driver's side front, but it's very low volume).

Any idea as to the cause or solution to the popping? What about the front speaker problem?

 

Zip-tie all 4 RCA's firmly together. This will stabilize RCA jacks in their sockets and will partially fix the problem, because some RCAs do not provide an adequate contact and you may hear a popping sound, especially while driving. I had the same problem with the 70-7551 harness. This fix eliminated the volume inequalities between the speakers and eliminated some popping. However, the popping sound during the volume change from 0 or to 0, the change of the input source, or the change of the radio stations is still present, but it is weaker now.

 

That's a negative Ghostrider. The real solution to this problem is to use the harness that takes the speaker-outs and puts them through a LOC. Look in my other thread to see what its called. (i can't remember right now)

I posted this in another thread but thought that it would also apply here, its for us later gen i30/i35 guys. Its a new Scosche dash kit that looks to be more compatible then the Metra one.
