Does an 8" free air 1 or 2ohm sub exist?? (5th gen)
Does an 8" free air 1 or 2ohm sub exist?? (5th gen)
I've been reading and searching for a week now for a sub that can replace the bose unit while still using the bose amp (which I've read is rated at 100w at 1 ohm). I read a thread on another forum where a guy dropped a kicker sub in and wired it to 2ohm, and he was very happy with it...
I know there are better options than doing this (ie. amp+sub), but this car is 7 years old and I don't plan to put any money into the audio other than hopefully replacing the God-aweful stock sub driver itself.
Any help for this long-time forum member would be MUCH appreciated.

By the way, I've discovered a couple of subs that might fit the bill:
Kicker CVR8 has a Qts of 0.831
Polk db840 DVC has a Qts of 0.7
MTX T5508-44 has a Qts of 0.656
Boston Acoustics G10844 has a Qts of 0.6
All are DVC 4-ohm so I'm assuming can be wired in parallel for 2ohms, except the Kicker which can be wired to 1ohm...
Anyone think this might be a good idea?
