Touchscreen Talk

I'm looking for an all-in-one head unit touchscreen that will fit the stock dash trim in my 1997 I30 with minor modification at most (not looking to hack things up too much). Ideally would be nice to run a Carputer out of the glovebox down the road... but nothing too expensive either. I'm looking to compile various members' experiences and recommendations in this thread so we can all benefit from this discussion. Thanks in advance!

I picked up the jvc avx-820. It's sitting in the garage at the moment waiting on an install.

I will post a short review when I am done.
i purchased this amp for a few reasons:
1) price. it's way cheaper to get a non-navi deck.
2) plays all sorts of formats and file types.
3) is ipod video capable with the accessory adapter.
4) blue tooth is pre installed making the overall install easier.

Avoid touch screen radios and tvs, they are a pain in the azz!! You get finger print smudges all over the face, you have to clean it constantly. After a while you rub holes through the screen where you continue to touch the same place and that function does not work anymore.

Maybe 8+ years ago that was an issue (not that bad then either though). Nowadays it is Not a problem in any way.

People here have had the best experience with Eclipse.

The AVN series will do CD/DVD/mp3/iPod/etc and has navigation built in as well.

I have a Pioneer D3 and a had a pionneer flip out (not sure of model) both were touchscreens and I have never had a problem, Pioneers are wonderful units and I think they make a great product, just my opinion though

Kenwood products are up and coming. Recent units are pretty nice.

I have worn through a AVIC N-1 and a N-3, I'm surprised I'm the only one that has had this problem. I guess I'm the only one that is bugged by finger prints when I watch a movie.

Im quite **** about prints as well, but have never worn through the screen or even showed the closest thing to doing so.

Do you work with something that can cause your hands to be a bit acidic maybe ? Selling/Installing/Using these screens day in and day out for years and I dont think I have ever seen a single one worn through.
