Radar Detectors

I really want a batter powered unit, so I'm thinking Escort SOLO. Any other or better suggestions?

Thanks.

I think the Solo is the ONLY battery powered unit. If you're willing to deal with the power cord, you can do much better.

almost all models suffer a severe drop in perfromance and detection abilities when they run on batteries. some of the drops are in the range of 50-70%. You are much better off getting one with a cord.

BEL electronics also makes a cordless unit. Runs on 2 AA batteries with auto power-off. Not as expensive as the Solo, but I'm not sure how it compares performance-wise. Works okay for me, though, and it's lasted quite a while. Battery life isn't too bad.

hope this helps,
