Is this stereo decent?
I'm not looking for anything extreme, and I wouldn't even be replacing the stereo if I had the stock one...but the person who sold the car to me sold it with a crappy cheap deck with a broken cd player. So my question is: is this good for the price, will it sound decent, and would these speakers fit nicely into my 97 max?

aah its nott badd depending on what you want to achieve, if you need it just to get you over on a daily commuter and not looking for something special, then it will work fine. if you want clean, crips music or a music lover i dont think you will enjoy it
again all about what you want to achieve, good luck

If you're even looking at stuff like that, then any aftermarket HU with stock speaks will probably do wonders for you.
The speakers will be very cheaply made, and the HU will work, but as for a decent setup in the car audio world...meh
that said, I'd just get a HU for now provided there isn't anything wrong with your speakers.. then if you want better down the road, by all means upgrade
