2002 Maxima headunit checklist
2002 Maxima headunit checklist
My BLOWS HU's display is out, CD skips, and left speaker is out (for CD play only). It is time to change this thing out that has been the biggest pain in the ___ since I got this car. I have never done a clean head unit installation myself, but that is not really what I am concerned about. I can do the mounting, soldering, tearing the dash open, etc. What I am concerned about is that I may be missing something for the installation. Do I need the Scosche Harness if I am getting the PAC ROEM? I am missing anything like inline fuses or other recommended parts?
Pioneer AVIC-X710BT - $524.99
Scosche NN1648B Dash Kit - $24.95
Scosche NN03B Car Stereo Connector/Harness - $9.04
PAC ROEM-NIS2 - $35.88
PAC SWI-PS Steering wheel integration - $45.98
Pioneer iPod adapter - $27.95
Scosche Ndab Nissan Diversity Antenna Adapter - $5.95
TOTAL: ~$670
Pioneer AVIC-X710BT - $524.99

I think I have BOTH of those PAC units!
A member send me 2 of them when I bought his HU, but I have a 2k (no steering wheel controls) FTL.
PM me, if interested!
also I think I paid $17 shipped for my dash kit on Ebay!

I don't want any dash kit, but this one. It seems that this one has the best fit. Apparently the color difference is slightly noticeable, but it shouldn't bother me too much.
When you bought the HU, it had to be installed in 1 of these 3 scenarios:
1. Included PAC ROEM and a generic harness.
2. Included PAC ROEM and spliced into a cut factory harness.
3. Included PAC ROEM and the PAC-ROEM integrates directly (AND ENTIRELY) with the factory harness.
I'm just trying to figure out if I need two harnesses. Thanks for the offer though. We may be in contact soon. I have to get my car back from the shop first. DAMN transmissions to hell!

Well theres 2 dash kits out there!!!
1. is just the trim ring or bezel (thats what I have) ebay $17 (I like it for $17 the color is close enough, $130 back in my pocket!)
2. is the center ac vents connected to the trim ring thats one BIG unit (GXE kit $150) I think thats what they call it. (they run about $50-75 used on the org)
Now, for $25, what option do you think you have??
As far as the PAC goes, I have 2 setting here, again cant use them, no steering wheel controls on the 2k FTL.
1. SWI-X (new uninstalled)
2. PESWIX (used)
They both say "steering wheel radio control interface" on them. I got these both from NISMAX03 when I bought his Kenwood HU

You have have either one for $30 shipped
saved $7 on the dash kit and $15 on the pac!

LRCOOKE@hotmail.com is my paypal if interested!

Dash Kit from OEM:
http://scosche.com/products/sfID1/15...productID/1655
It has been reviewed on this forum to fit very nicely, but the color is off.

I watched a friend do an install using shrink wrap (is that what it is called?) and solder. He would first slip a plastic wrap around one end, solder the ends together, slide the plastic up and melt it with a small butane lighter. Is this as good as butt crimps / crimp caps?
