New CD Deck Time

Getting a new CD deck...Would just like to see what people think of the following models. I currently have an Alpine CDA-9833 which has been sounding really harsh lately. I'm looking for something newer in the $500-$600 range that has a nice warm sound to it. Here are a few of the models I'm looking at...feel free to write in if you have good experiences with another deck not listed. Only requirements: iPod/Aux Jack, XM Compatibility. I have an amp for the door speakers and an amp for the subs so dead HUs are cool.

Alpine CDA-9887 (Though Not real impressed with the specs on paper)

Pioneer Premier DEH-P710BT

Eclipse CD7200 mk II

Thanks in advance people!

I had the pioneer p7000bt essentially the same thing except single din. I loved the radio only reason I'm moving on is because I want a nav system. I ended up using the usb and having it on random most of the time but I still had the hd radio and that worked well just no good stations. The bluetooth worked really awesome too but ti does drain your cell phone battery.

For warm sound, I'd go with the Pioneer lineup, and with that budget, a 980bt or 800prs.

I went into a Pioneer store today to ask about the Premier 800prs...he said its discontinued and the Pioneer Premier series is going away and being replaced by a new Pioneer 4 series. Supposedly only 8 dealers in the US will have it...can anyone verify?

You're gonna have a hard time finding an Eclipse CD7200, they are backorder almost everywhere ! I have an Eclipse CD5030 and it's a very nice radio with a lot of nice feature, 24db crossover, time alignement, bluetooth and usb. I know the CD7200 is better, but it's a lot more money. With the CD5030 you'll still have the Eclipse sound quality. Otherwise, i would look at the Pioneer 980bt, very nice gear too !

Anyone know why the Eclipse 7200s are in such short supply? I found em on crutchfield but they have low stock. Is eclipse coming out with a replacement to the 7200?

In fact, it's quite the opposite. Eclipse has pulled out of car audio and that is a discontinued model along with the rest of their car audio products.

Pioneer is known for making kick *** radios and not so kick *** anything else. I'd say the Pioneer for features but Alpine looks great and they are durable and long lasting. I've had my Alpine double din radio for 2.5 years now with no problems (knock on wood) and I've had a kenwood crap out on me and a jensen that had terrible sound quality. Personally i think eclipse is alil overpriced. I think they should find something they're really good at and stick to it. When companies start making a product for every little thing they start to get sloppy with the stuff they used to build well..

I agree with ya. I was just always under the impression that Eclipse had the best sounding stuff among the entry level decks (Alpine, Pioneer, etc).

Anyone bought the new Pioneer Stage 4 line? Was looking at possibly getting the $1,400 Pioneer Stage 4 deck.

Thanks guys!

Wow...I decided to take part in Best Buy's rental program and buy a new Alpine CDA-9886 and it sounded a hell of a lot better than my 6 year old cda-9833. The highs were so harsh, bass was wayy more clean. What causes decks to go bad? Not a whole lot of new decks to choose from...Eclipse is outta the game, Pioneer's new stage 4 lineup looks cool...but $1300 for a CD deck...with no NAV? C'mon Pioneer. Does anyone happen to have a used Eclipse 7200 MKii for sale? Suggestions for new decks in the sub $1000 range?

Wait what? Yuo said the 9886 sounds much better than the 9833 right? Why not keep it in there?

What do you need out of your deck? I love the new kenwood KDC-X994, I've got 2 and just installed 1 in another guys car and it's a great deck with built in BT from Parrot, and when you get it dialed in right you will hear midbass like you never have before

Best Buy has a rental program?? I am going to have to look into this as my in dash POS doesn't show what station/track it's on cause the Display isn't lit (took the faceplate apart and don't see a way for it to be lit either)

I just put the DEH-P710BT in my car about a month ago. It's sexy, I like it. Let me know if you have any specific questions about it.
