pioneer problem

ok i hooked up my pioneer cd player after a few elactrical problems to the car that were fixed and all the wiring is hook up correctly...i am sure of this for 2 reasons....1 i took out the wire harness and re wired it all and 2 had a friend check it for me....so here is the problem i hook it up to my car and i get the cd player to turn on and it works properly the only problem is that it does not output sound....im thinking that the cd player is causing this because the speaker wires are hooked up fine and my speakers ar enot blown....even if they are blown id still be able to hear music comming out of the speakers......so i have an idea....my friend is taking a sony cd player he has and i am gonna wire my harness to his cd player and hook it up to see if it the cd player that is causing this....other than that i have no idea what is going on and this is really buggin me so if anyone has an suggestions please tell me....thank you in advance for ur help.....Tom

So the cd is playing, but there is no sound? If so, then you have a speaker wire touching a metal part of your car. Check all your speaker connections in the back of your stereo, and speakers, and make sure none of them is being grounded. This is the whole principle behind celular mute. When you get a call, your speakers ground, and you have no sound.
