Adding auxiliary input to an old aftermarket head unit?

I have an old Blaupunkt and want to (try to) add an auxiliary input to it to play my iPhone/iPod through it

It has no input plugs on the back but it does have a CD changer plug. It's an 8 pin plug. Here's a picture of the plug - (isn't this just an 8 pin din plug)?

Apparently, Blaupunkt used to sell an adapter that would plug into this and let you turn it into a 3.5mm audio jack but it's long been discontinued and I can't find it anywhere.

I was thinking that maybe somehow I could make my own

I bought some "empty" din plugs that will let you solder on your own wires. And I was thinking of running it to this, allowing me to plug in a 3.5mm audio cable:

Now, how would I determine the proper pins on the Blaupunkt CD changer plug? From what I gather, I would only need to determine the L and R channel pins, and a ground. But I can't for the life of me find anywhere online the Blaupunkt pinouts for this 8 pin plug.

Yeah I saw that on eBay - what a ripoff. I can't imagine anybody actually buying those. For $10 or so more I can just buy a decent quality new unit with a built-in auxiliary input. But then again his setup is marketed/geared toward vintage cars it looks like, so I suppose lots of people are willing to buy those to keep their original head unit

But what that guy is selling is basically what I was looking to do

Anyway, I figured it out finally

I cut the ends off a 3.5mm audio cord and used the little 1/8" jack from Radio Shack (which was unexpectedly tiny) and mounted it in a blank panel on the dash.

After much research/trial and error, I figured out the pins I needed on the back of the Blaupunkt unit and until my "empty" din connector arrives, here's my ghetto-rigged cotter-pin "harness" I used to test it all out

Yeah, that's what I did. The CD changer port is the same pin arrangement as an 8 pin DIN, so when my "empty" DIN socket arrives, I'll pin it appropriately and it will be true plug and play.

Out of curiosity though, where did you get this adapter? Got a link? In my couple days of research, I came across several custom adapters that would adapt cd changer ports to auxiliary inputs, but they were all in the $50-90 range. There weren't any for my particular application but I wouldn't have paid that much for one anyway.

So just curious where you got one for $7 shipped. Does it require you to put in a "silent" CD as well or no? I didn't come across any that cheap for any application when I was looking and I came across several forums/threads from different makes/models and even those guys were having to buy the $50-90 ones

Got my 8 pin DIN connector today and soldered my wires onto their corresponding pins and so here's my finished "plug and play" adapter:

Wish I would a seen this sooner, I have the Blaupunkt adapter you're looking for. I have an older Tampa Bay in pristine condition, I found the OEM connector thru a Blaupunkt distributor out of Gainsville, FL. Part # 7 607 897 093-001
