Like mentioned my Radio is dead and the extended 3 year warranty is over. Circit City will send it out with a $35 non-refundable charge. The average repair cost $95 when sent out, so I'm not sure if its worth it. I'm really not sure what wrong with the radio. It will flip over, but the face won't display anything and none of the buttons function. The radio is stuck on the last station and volume I had it on the last time it was working.

I'm not sure what to do? Do you guys think its worth it to risk repairing it or should I just look for a new unit??

One thing is for sure...no more damn unit with those funky *** gismoses!!

Was it one of the top of the line models? I'm guessing it's about 3 years old though, right? That's a tough call. If you can afford it I'd just be looking at getting a new deck. Put the repair money ($130) and put it toward a new one!

Thanks for the advice fellas. I figured yall would say to buy a new unit. Now I need to find a reliable unit to buy...any suggestions?? Are all these flip and kamelion units reliable. I'm not sure if all these high tech units are for the $$ in the long run.

How much are you willing to spend. Some of the higherend units are worth the cash in todays market. You want a relibalbe unit stay way from kenwood,pioneer, lowend sony, jensen. Look at eclipse,nakamichi,alpine etc.

 

Actually, you likely only need to replace the $10 cable that connects
the face to the main body. Well, $10 cable weighing 1 oz. for which
they charge $8 shipping.

Anyway, don't know where you're located, so go here to find the right
parts distributor:

Unfortunately, you'll have to take the unit apart first and get the
part number directly off the cable. It should be xxx-xxxx-xx. When
you talk to the distributor, it's possible the last two digits may be
different (revision number I guess), but the first seven should be the
same. They're not exactly rocket scientists at these distributors.

Note very well how the cable is threaded through that little
bar that rotates (you'll see what I mean).

I had the same problem, but couldn't justify a new head unit when my
PS905 works fine and only needed $20 and several hours of work. Let
me know if you go the repair route and I'll send you the steps I had
to do (took a while to figure out how to dismantle the face).
