Need some 6.5" suggestions

This isn't for my Max but my X-runner. I just bought a set of door panels for it that will fit 10"s but also has a spot for 6.5"s. The panels replace a section of my rear suicide doors as seen below.

I've been so busy with work and deploying that I've honestly quit following car stereo. Here's a picture of what I'll be working with. Here is one with stuff already installed.

Here is how it will look once it arrives at my door.

I've already decided on my Sub and amp (which I know will leave Pearlmax but I'm getting 2 Memphis Reference DVC 10"s powered by their MR1.500D

I'm thinking to do components, but with the subs so close I'm wanting a set of speakers with really good highs but also silk tweeters. I can hear tinging of the metal ones that just drives me insane. Suggestions please.

I am away from a computer but the stuff i have been hearing the most buzz about lately are still some classic names. JL audio, MB quart, alpine. Some lesser known stuff that still does well are rainbow or cdt. As far as a textile tweeter those seem to be getting harder to find in the Automotive world. I have no.idea on the tweeters for the brands i mentioned.

yo! haven't seen you post in awhile!

I'm sure if you just threw some money at Pearl96Max and he can give you some nice 6.5s components that won't kill your ears. That said, I'm a big fan of DLS and Morel. I've ran a few sets of Rainbows years ago as well, and loved how well their tweeters sounded with any type of music that I threw at it. What's your budget?

Yeah it's been a hectic few years. Deployments non stop and then coming off this last one I had to move. Trying to sell a house, then having to rent it... etc etc.

I haven't really set a budget on it yet. I have a feeling it's going to be tax return thing, I bought rims and tires for the XR and then I needed a new clutch for it. So a lot of my extra splurge money is gone.

I'm pretty sure it's going to be around $1500-$2000 for the project. That'll include install, amp or amps, subs, speakers, and matting. Of course the more I can save the more I will have for other goodies.

I've already got a nice Pioneer dvd unit so that's out of the way. i have to say they cornered the DDin market very nicely. It's not outrageous on price, and it works without being complicated. We even installed this year's model into the wife's Xterra. Lucky her, she got bluetooth. LOL

Thanks for your service though!

that's a decent budget to work with. i would opt for the germaniums...it's a great sounding set that wont break the wallet.

Well the panels will be here friday, i'll just put them in the garage for now. I'm bouncing between Morel and Rainbows at the moment. I'll end up doing all the speakers in the truck at one time. Keep the suggestions coming.

OP: I know what you are talking about. I replaced my Blaupunkt components for Rockford Fosgates and immediately noticed the metallic effect of the RF tweeters, which kind of gets to you (a lot of messing with the crossover really helped to tone it down). My Blaupunkts sounded just great - I feel the RF's was a waste of money. I have the Blaupunkts, they are about 6 months old - pm me if you are interested.

Go with the Rainbows. Or hell look into DLS since that's what I'm currently running haha.

This is what I'm looking at currently. I really don't need anything real crazy, the cab on the Tacoma isn't that big.

Wow, now there's a name I haven't seen for a minute ! Thank you for serving, my friend !

I will hate myself later for saying so, but .. skip the components all together if they are just for the rears. A good set of coaxials will suit the purpose just fine.
