Firewall opening in 7th gen

Hello all, my name is Matt and I thought I would share some infor for you all. As an installer I come across a lot of different cars. A few weeks ago I had a customer contact me about a 2012 Maxima. He wanted a simple sub and amp installed.

After searching around the internet to see if anyone found a clean opening in the firewall. I found nothing. So I searched myself the day of the install. I thought I would share this with you all.

If you remove the glove box and feel the wall up and to the right. You will find a blank rubber grommet.

This grommet you can cut a hole in and run your power wire through. The exit for this opening comes from under the windshield wiper shroud.

Here is what it looks like from the engine bay side under the shroud.

The power wire was than routed under the windshield shroud and to the battery. It came out very clean and the only piece of power wire you see is coming off the battery and going to the fuse block. Sorry as I did not get a picture of this.

'12 Maxima firewall

Hey,

I lifted the windshield wiper shroud and saw a black rubber grommet. In your picture I saw the wire but did you reinstall the grommet? On the other side of the grommet is a tube but i don't know where it goes too and how important it is as far as if I need to put it back. If I drill a hole it'll go straight Into the tube of the grommet
