security system problem

A recent minor front end accident has caused my security system to sense that the hood of my 1986 Maxima is constantly open. The constant blinking of my dashboard security light drains the battery. Replacing the hood did not solve the problem.

I cannot find the faulty sensor/switch under the hood. And I don't know which fuse I could pull to disable the system. Advice on either of these two approaches, or another approach, would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you pop up the hood, you should be able to see a push-down switch (you can call it a sensor) on right side on the front frame. Close all the doors and trunk, have someone press that hood switch down, and you can check the dash security light see if it's still blinking...

jiaxima96 - I'll have look at my '86 for the switch you have on your '96. I think there IS something there near the front on the driver's side, but I did not recognize it as anything special. Thanks for the quick reply.
