HELP! Car radio problems in '93 Maxima

It started by the LCD display fading in and out at times. Then the radio wouldn't make a sound for a while after the car had been started. Now it's just dead.

The AM/FM won't work at all, and the attenna won't go up either. The CD player "works", but you can only hear music faintly if you crank the volume up all the way.

It's a BOSE system, part of the original package, I believe.

If anyone has any ideas on where I could start to get this problem fixed, I'd appreciate it. I miss my music.

You can either check Ebay for a replacement, or do a google search for "bose repair" or something like that and you'll find several places that repair Bose systems.

for the price it would pay to resurrect that dead Bose system, you can buy a good new head unit.. then put another couple hundred in speakers and have a better system for $500 than the bose would be if it worked.

the problem is that the bose head unit goes out, then all the amps and speakers start to go after that. the head unit is about $200 to fix, then each of the amps are another $100 each to fix, and the speakers are 75-150 to replace..... and once part of the system goes, the rest follows it within the next year or so.

so my recommendation is to just bite the bullet and scrap the whole thing.
