I have Diamond Audio Mids(I think around 50W RMS is ok), JL Audio 12"(100- 150W RMS is ok). I was looking at the Extant Amps but they are $$$. I always liked the Rockford Fosgates, used to have the old-skool 100ix, but I heard that the new ones aren't good as the old ones. I would prefer something in the $400-600 range. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, the new RF isn't as good as the old RF. Which JL Audio sub do you have? I need to know the impedence to be able to find a suitable amp for it.

Subs>>

I have the old skool JL Audio W4 12" its rated at 250W and 4 ohms. I used to have the Soundstream 500, rated 500W RMS bridged, and run that to my Sub. It was an overkill but you never want to underpower a sub, you'll burn the voice coils. I'll be ok with 150W RMS tho, I don't listen to my stereo as loud as I used to.

I run a Soundstream P203 in my wife car.

With a Pair of MB Quartz 2 ways in the doors and a JL 10W0 in the trunk. It runs 35 rms for the front, and 75RMS for the sub. Since the 10" will only handle up to 125 rms, I don't worry about burning the coil, and her car rocks. Neat thing about the amp, is it's all chrome, and at http://www.soundcity.com , it's only $89 brand new. If you get the P205, it's 35 RMS x 4 channels, plus the 75rms for the sub. Both have built in x-over. I know they may not be top of the line, but for a buget minded person, it's a kick-*** little amp.

With a 4-ohm sub, you can use any high-quality amp for your setup. Run the first channel pair stereo to the front stage and run the second channel pair bridged mono to the sub. Alpine MRV-F407, Crossfire TEK35.4 or TEK50.4, DEI 200, Kenwood KAC-848, Kicker ZX460, MTX Thunder 304, Phoenix Gold XS4300, Zapco AG360 are all good amps with the wattage that you need.

I know someone that is selling a used JL 12" W4 sub for $50. Does JL still make this model and is this a good deal? Thanks.

The JL w4 series was discontinued a while back, but it's a pretty good "basic" speaker.. $50 may be a little much for a used 12", as you could buy them new for around $100.. it all depends on age and condition I guess..

As for amp recommendations to the original question, have you looked at PPI's 4 channel amps?
they have 25, 50, 75, 100Wx4 channel amps to choose from. They're all very good stuff.
they'll also easily run in 3 channel mode, where they bridge the two rear channels for an awesome mono source.. the 50x4 amp will run 50x2 and 200x1 (all 4 ohms) when in 3 channel mode.. the others will similarly run 4x their rated 4 ohm power in mono..

I'm running an older PPI 4 channel amp on my system now.. I've got the 4 channels bridges into 2, and it's running my mids with 200w each side.. awesome clarity and definition. I wouldn't sell these things if my life depended on it!

PPI has a 4x75W amp? I thought they only had the 4400 (4x50 w/4 Ohm) and the 4800 (4x100 w/4 Ohm). . .

Oh and I highly recommend PPI also. . . My friends always comment on how clear and clean the sound is. . . I wouldn't trade them either as they are really good amps.

Yeah, for some reason, I forgot about PPI when I threw that list down. PPI is good stuff, for sure.
