Does anyone currently own an Astro Start 2106 or 1105 model remote start/keyless entry? If so, how much did you pay w/installation? I currently have an older Design Tech remote start, but it's useless from the range I park at school. I'm also curious about the range of the 2106 model, because on the website (http://www.astroflex.com/english/products.html) it says range up to 1400', but if you download the PDF with the technical specs on the same model, it says range up to 1/2 mile (2800'). Anyone know the truth about this?

 

I don't know either brand you mention here, but I do have a remote start/entry/alarm/pager/butt scratcher thingy. I can tell you from experience that even at best case scenario, you can expect probably about 1/2 to 3/4 of the advertised range. You will probably only achieve the advertised range once, and that is w/o any obstructions and with you holding your remote under your chin and waving your arms all around Seriously, only expect realistically about 1/2 to 3/4 advertised.

 

Yeah, I figured the range was way over rated. The one I have now is supposed to be 500Ft, but it's more like 50. Does anybody else have one of those Astro Start systems? I got offered the 2106 w/ the remote keyless entry option for 273 installed. I would like to get some real opinions on this brand before I go spend that kind of money though. Anybody got a clue about these things?
