Yes! Cerwin Vegas produce an excellent sound! I went to best buy & listened to their 6.5" coaxials/components (actually, they are components, with the tweeter mounted in the middle, without the woofer cutout). They were the best sounding 6.5" speakers there! Excellent highs, mids, and lows. I was very impressed by the sound - exactly as clear as home audio systems. I don't know much about their reliability/durability. Check them out yourself, although the Best Buy in my area is replacing their Cerwin Line with Kenwood (WTF?)
As far as the 6x9" you mentioned, I haven't listened to them. A great 6x9" is Pioneer's TS-A6995. Check them out here At $85 shipped/pair they are a steal, I paid $115, which was cheap 1year ago! Best $115 I ever spent! They produce awesome highs & kick hard! And Pioneer's speaker reliability is great. (people always give them great reviews)
And $85 sounds like a good price for Cerwin 6x9" cause the 6.5" I saw were over $100.
Good luck,
G

I used the Pioneer 6995s 6x9 in my 97 Elantra and I also bought a pair for my brother's Accord. Let me tell you they sound awesome. I was pumping around 45W RMS into those babies & the sound was incredible (I got pulled over twice! no tickets, though ) My brother was running his POS stock head unit. The sound they produced was amazing! At 94dB they produce more sound, with less power (which is good if you are just using a head unit as an amp). Also, when I had them powered by my amp, they would dwarf the sound coming from my 5 1/4 JBL's up front. Best Buy may carry them. Don't get JBLs. I felt the ones I had were overpriced, and not good performers.
To answer your question Maxdriver98, I can say that my brother's stock unit w/Pioneer 6x9 sounded louder/clearer & kicked cleaner base, than my current factory Bose (even with the Bose components up front & 8" sub in the back) That's why I'm ripping it out as soon as the weather warms up! If I had 6x9 cutouts in my rear deck, I would buy another pair for my Max!
