Kicker SOLOBARIC 10'' sub

Hey guys, don't burn me if I write something that sounds too "newbie" : )

I'm thinking about getting a subwoofer system for my max, and after hours of research, I found out that solobaric subs are one of a kind. kicker solobaric 10" has 450watts which is plenty, plenty for me. Just big enough to get my heart poundin.
I found a price for this for $199. Not bad right? Thats a internet price. I need to get this sealed so I guess I need put put an extra 100 or so..
There are two kinds of this sub, one with 2ohms and one with 4ohms. Can anyone briefly explain the differences? I only want one sub so I'm kinda guessing 2ohms is the one i'm looking for..

So, which amps do you guys suggest? around 400watts or more amps that is very good for its price. Around 200-250buck range.. I want to install all these all under 400 bucks. Possible right? How much would installation cost at a local shop? $100?? I should call, but in the ball park, just wanted to know. Please feed me with feed backs. especially the amp, since thats just as important as the subs. Thanks

$199 for a 10 inch L7, you can go on ebay and get a 12 inch for the same price. If you get an amp you can get a low powered one and bridge it. In this case you would want the dual 2ohm L7 and wire it series so that it shows the amp a 4 ohm load. When you bridge amp you should see double the power and your amp shouldn't get too hot. If you wire 2 ohms in parallel it show some amps a 1ohm load and most amps cant handle that. You can look on crutchfield.com for amps as a good reference, then go to ebay and get them cheaper there. Crutchfield is very informative.

Re: Re: Kicker SOLOBARIC 10'' sub

thanks for the reply : )

yea, crutchfield has very detailed information. I ended up not buying kicker subs due to its high wattage requirement(thus, more expensive high wattage amp...). I've done some more researching and found a decent price for a JL 12W3 sub. For its good 250watts, I can get a affordable amp for it as well. I'm thinking about cadence Q3000 amp (300watts for $130). These two guys should cost me around little over 300 with shipping.
