2k2 BOSE STEREO SUCKS

Okay i got delivery of my car yesterday and all i have to say is that this stereo is the worst factory system i have ever heard in my life.

It is about 10 x worse than my moms 99 Maxima SE bose stereo. Has anybody else noticed how crappy this stereo is??

Its like the 8"bose woofer caps out at about volume 16 and from there on does not get louder.

I put the volume to volume 31 and it sounds no were near as bassy and clear as my moms 99 SE... Now i am forced to dump this stock crapper for a new stereo..

Stay tuned!!

Parts that i have right now:
Pioneer P8250 Organic display CD PLAYER
Hifonics Industria 500x1 at 2ohms RMS
Sony XM 4045 2x100 watts RMS (bridged)
Earthquake CS6 6.5" components with 24db crossvoers
2 x Infinity Perfect 12.1's
Nokia CARK-91US interfaced with pioneer deck
1 farad cap
power distribution blocks and other necessary components

Parts I need:
2k2 indash install kit
PAC steering wheel IR interface
Wiring harness (looking for ways not to cut into the factory wires)
and a whole $hit load of time and effort

I agree with you. I expected MUCH more from this system. You can hardly hear the highs at all from the tweeters, the system tops out at a volume barely enough on the highway with the windows down, and the sub, let's not even get into that (rattle!!!!). I've worked at it, but it looks like I'll be saving up for an aftermarket system. Maybe it's time for me to get into stereo installing? Never worked on one before, but it's always fun to try.

Thats the thing, i have ALL the equipment as listed above, but the only thing stopping me is the fact that the car is 2 days old!!!

Its quite disturbing that i must dismantle my car at such a young age.

She is just a virgin!!!

Before going all out, try swapping out the speakers first. Even though the whole system is sold as a Bose they're actually OEM'd by Clarion. Speakers included.

From what i've read from other owners, yes. Might want to check the earlier threads about this just to double check. Additionally, the amp is no longer built-in to the speaker enclosures like in previous model years.

Yes the amp is separate from the sub, and yes the sub sucks. But I don't know if it's as much the sub as the LACK of insulating around it. The speakers are Clarion and they can be swapped at least from what I've read. I don't know which would fit though. If you figure it out let me know. That would be a HUGE improvement. Especially, does anyone know if you can improve the tweeters? They are terrible you can't hear any highs!!!

Also, read about the converter. That may help. All in all, my friend who has a 00 Max told me to get the BOSe, that it would help the resale, and although I LOVE everything else about the car, I can't stand the stereo. UGH!

For the tweeters, that is a totally simple fix!!!

You can pick up a pair of tweeters from any audio shop (usually for 30 dolalrs that wire in parallel to the woofers)..

Disable the crappy stock pillar tweeters.

Get tweeters that have mounts that can angle it towards you (such as my earthquake componenets).

Get double sided tape and mount the tweeters on the upper part of the door (where the mirrors attach)..

Now am the tweeters towards you and voila you have amazing sound> Thats how i install tweeters on my old cars, and all my friends cars and i tell you it sounds amazing. The reason being is that high frequences are directional and the fact that NIssan retardly uses the a-pillars for the tweeters creates the sound stage and frequency dispersion in the middle of the dash right by the factory clock, henc you can barely hear the tweeters.

As for the sub, never use free air crap. I bet you any money the bose sub is paper crap and runs off a 20 watt RMS amp.

I would have rather had the 6x9 bose in my moms 99 SE.

Who the hell needs speakers in the rear doors anyways.

I can also offer some assistance in making the sound stage sound more cleaner.

Its a simple dolby surround setup. COnnect the two negative wires of the speakers togetehr in the rear, then only attach the positive wires to the amp. In essensce you get an L-R effect, hence this setup extracts the surround sound material from any stereo sound source.

This was how the older DOLBY surround setup was made 10 years ago. The only thing you need to do is to decrease the volume of the rear speakers because the perfect balance is to ensure that youc an barely hear the rear speakers in the surround sound format.

I am surprised alot of you older guys didn't know this trick.

I am an installer by nature, with lots of electronics experience, but an accountant in career. But still i am hesitant in doing anything to my brand new car because its my heart that won't let me do that to a brand new car!!
