Trunk Dynamat & Carpetting
Trunk Dynamat & Carpetting
Hi,
I have a stupid question. I want to dynamat my trunk but I don't want the dynamat look in it. Is it easier to pull up the carpeting and put the dynmat underneath or is it easier to put new carpeting over it. Also where can I get that gray carpeting from failry cheaply? Also how hard is to dynamat other areas of the Maxima? What are the most rattle prone areas? Thanks

doors and trunk are the most rattle-prone areas.
also the firewall, floorboard and roof if you're trying to get rid of road noise.
you can get the grey trunk mat at most auto upholstery shops and probably most decent car audio shops (although you'll pay their markup on it).
I can purchase it for about $3-5/yard here. pretty cheap. 3 yards is enough to do the whole trunk a couple times.
On my car though, I just pulled all the carpet out and covered it back over when I was done. on the floorboard aroudn the spare, I glued new trunk mat on the floor, then put the OEM carpet back over it. made it look much better, and helped with the road noise a bit too. not bad for only adding a couple of lb of weight and about $10 in total cost.
