I am curious to know why people keep asking questions about bose systems? As far as OEM they are iight but if you want to have a real system the word BOSE should not be spoken unless your are talking about Home Entertainment. Therefore if you want sound first step is to bet rid of BOSE.

That is a pointless post. People talk about their factory Bose system because that is what they have. Why do people talk about thier stock 3.0 liter engine? Because that is what they have. Why do people talk about there car having four doors? Because that is what they have.
How about this. "Why do people talk about their atuomatic transmissions, they suck. If you want a real transmission get a 5-spd." Does that make any sense. No, and either does your post.

 

The purpose to let people know that if you want to upgrade your Bose speakers you need to get rid of them.

If you don't know that an I30 is the same car as a Maxima then you have no business posting. Tell that to the other I30 owner on this site. I'd bet everyting I got I could take your Max. Your all stock,I'm not.

 

MAxima is a Maxima I30 Is a I30 and the I30 are way slower cause of all the bonus bull$hit. Like i said holla at Honda little man.

 

Where do you get your info that I30's are slow? My I30t is 150lbs heavier than a Max. Same hp & torque. I think my hybrid intake and STS make up for that and more. You probably assume I have an automatic, you would be wrong. Bonus bull****? Like the limit slip I have and you don't. I would not call that useless. An I30 is a Maxima and a Maxima is an I30. I know your trying to make a point, but you need to get some info before calling my car slow. That is just a slam to your car and everyones one the org.

Seriously, though...to a lot of people, the Bose system sounds pretty darn good. To all us others, we were not happy with the Bose and either upgraded it (very difficult IMO) or eliminated it altogether.

YOUR LAME! I happen to like my bose system, it is the best stock system i heard. i enjoyed my bose for the time i had it.. so

 

are 5th gens harder to work on, stereo wise, than 3rd gens? mine wasnt too bad, but other people say it was a pain in the ***, maybe i just have a different tolerance level?

also dont try to get me for being off topic because i think this is more on topic than anything youve posted, its called being productive, not just a dumbass argueing something thats wrong and then once you realize it, keep arguing. I30, maxima, the only difference i see is the grill, i know there are others, but i dont care, most people dont look at the insides of cars, they really should though, thats where all the audio/video stuff happens, along with other personal touches.

Uh, my 96 5spd i30 with VLSD, no spoiler, no sunrood, no leather, 15" wheels, and none of that "bonus bullshi$$" that even an SE or GLE has, surely is not slow in stock form.

I love the Maximas don't get me wrong, I almost bought a few Maxs, but I am glad I got the I30. The 5-speed is awesome, no one expects me to have one. Excellent sleeper car. Fst96se is right, 5-speeds are not easy to come by.

Why would you spend over a grand for a new system which will sound a bit better than Bose???? Unless of course your Bose is broken.
I don't understand why so many people hate Bose car systems..I think they are one of the best sounding car products out there, and it comes stock! Nakamichi, Mark Levinson(sp?) also come stock on some cars(Lexus) and there is nothing you can put in the car that will sound better. All the MB Quart, Pioneer, Kicker, Alpine, Kenwood, Clarion, etc...are just crap compared to those two brands....and they both come standard.

No, they are good stock systems but as fas as add on capabilities that where the problem lies.

 

No way in hell is bose a great home entertainment system. You should know that. Better sound through research right? (only about 5% of their expenses go to research).

If you didn't already know, the Bose system in our Maxima's nowadays is OEM'd by Clarion. So techincally you're saying Clarion is crap compared to Bose(Clarion).

Btw, Bose doesn't come standard. That's a premium sound system. I'd actually take any of those brands you listed over the Bose any day as far as SQ goes.

 

I'm glad you like your Bose system!! I wish I did!! I'm not trashing on Bose, because I agree with you that as far as OEM systems go it is pretty darn good.

However...I honestly believe that you can give me ANY car with an OEM system and I can make an aftermarket system that sounds better. MUCH better.

And BTW, the only brand names you listed that was worthy of a mention in your context were MB Quart and Alpine. I personally don't like MBQ, and Alpine makes some pretty cheap HUs, but they also make some really awesome ones (one in particular, I can't remember the number, is their "reference standard" and goes for over $2K). You also mentioned Nakamichi, but put it into the OEM category (ouch).

I have found the BOSE system in the 95-99 Maximas and 96-99 I30s to be superior to most other BOSE systems, even in the Nissan line itself. For example, I have heard BOSE systems in the 2000 and up maximas/I30s (loaners) and the bass was not the same, even absent at most frequencies that ours can accentuate well. My parents own Acuras, and the BOSE systems in those do NOT sound nearly as good as the one in my car. Weird...

 

Could have more to do with the car and interior than the system itself. The acoustic qualities of the cabin, reflections, and absorbency of the interior (leather vs. cloth) can make a large difference. Not knowing anything about the relative baselines of any of the cars in question, it could be that the interiors of the 4G cars may accentuate the bass at certain frequencies that the 5G cars do not.

If your parents' Acuras have leather interiors, the sound reflections could account for your perception that the system does not sound as good.

Again, one might assume that the manufacturers take this into account when producing a system, but there would probably be so many variables that it wouldn't be feasible to tune each system for each interior configuration.

ok maybe I am wrong. Nakamichi does come with Lexus(my sis has it). But I think you basically affirmed what I was saying. You'd have to spend a lot of money to get sound quality that is better than Bose. I'm not saying that Bose is the best..it's very far from the best. All i'm saying is that if you want a system that sounds better than Bose you'd have to spend a lot of money. That's all.

 

Not really. Changing the headunit and/or the speakers alone will make a world of difference, and they don't cost a lot either.

I've managed to change all my speakers to Infinity References and added an Infinity Basslink to my OEM headunit. All this for less than $300. It sounds a lot better than the Bose i tell you what

 

Ok well I'm not a stereo guru so I can't really put up a decent argument but quiet honestly I don't believe that a stock headunit and some Infinity speakers can sound better than Bose. And from what I heard of the Basslink..it sucks. Anyways..I'm not trying to flame anyone or anything like that. It's just my opinion.

from what i, myself, heard before i got the basslink was that it sucked. i listened to it on the shelf at Circuit City and Cartoys and it sucked.

but i took the chance and put it in my car, it sounds a lot different installed than it does on the shelf and i don't regret doing what i did.

again, please do remember that if you have a 2k2 you're not getting the real Bose in your car. That's made by Clarion. Open it up and you'll see.
