FS: Custom speaker adapters/spacers

I have joined up with Patrick (Phenryiv1) of Subaruaudio.net fame to make some custom speaker adapters for Maximas (and most other Nissans)!

As most of you are probably aware, it can be a challenge to mount aftermarket speakers in the front doors of our cars without some work. There are cheap plastic adapters already available, but they often don't have a wide enough opening for many aftermarkets speakers, and if you get the larger size that provides greater depth (to clear the windows when they go down) they don't provide a proper seal and you will end up with crappy sound. They also use PVC, but if you've ever held one, they are flexible and brittle, which are not problems with our adapters. That flex can lead to vibrations with higher powered speakers, and nobody likes that.

Patrick started out making these for Sentras back when he had a B15, and considered making some for Maximas, but he ended up getting so busy making these for Subarus (after he sold the B15) that the Nissan stuff got put on the back burner. Even though modding Maximas is trending downhill, I still thought it would be nice for people to have the option to buy quality, custom speaker adapters for these cars.

We use either 1/2" or 3/4" PVC depending on the depth of your speakers, and can cut them for pretty much any 6.5" speaker on the market. These are custom made for your specific application, and since they are made with PVC, you will never have to worry about them rotting or swelling from moisture, which is a major problem with adapters made from MDF.

Here are some pics of them being used on my latest stereo install with Focal Performance speakers:

Viola! No drilling, no cutting, just a nice quality bolt-in part that you can trust.

They are available for $30 shipped for a pair, or $55 shipped if you need four. These will fit 4th, 5th, and 6th gens. For most Maxima applications, only the front two are needed. However, these will also work on G35/350Zs, as well as most other Nissans from the past 15 years, so please contact me if you would like a set for another application. You can PM me here, or send me an email at: Nick (at) subaruaudio.net.

I would like to hear any feedback or comments on this, so please don't be shy! Thanks for looking.

Looks like a good product guys. I'm not up to upgrading my system yet (still blowing money in engine performance mods), but I will hit you up for a custom set of adapters once I know which speakers I'm gonna settle with.

Nice. I used to get these elsewhere (and made out of MDF) but will definitely keep you in mind to help out a fellow org member.

Door panel need anything done to make it fit with these installed?

That's my only concern.

I didn't have to alter anything when installing mine, and mine are 3/4" material. Keep in mind I can make them out of 1/2", which is enough depth for most speakers and will reduce the likelihood of any clearance issues.

Thanks for the interest guys, I can make these for pretty much any Nissan with 6.5s, so if you have a G35/350Z or something else, just let me know and I can work on getting something made for you!

The install went smooth and my speakers fit great.
I did have to drill a few holes and grab some stainless sheet metal screws, but it was easy.

Thanks for making these!

Just so I'll know when I gut my Bose, why are these needed in the front pair and not the rear?

Clearance.
Tons of room in the rear and limited in the front.

Quite simply because the front speakers are in the doors, and the rear speakers are in the rear deck. With speakers in the doors, you have to worry about getting enough clearance so the windows can roll down all the way without hitting the back of the magnet.

Are you also offering an option in MDF or just PVC?

I'm doing a repair, just need a single MDF ring. Doesn't even have to have the mounting tabs, circular is fine.

How much clearance is there on the front without the spacers, 5.5 Gen? I have some Image Dynamics CXS64 V.2 and they are 3 inches deep. With a .5 inch spacer will I have to modify the Door card?
