how good are the willwood calipers used on fastbrakes BBK?

i'm asking this not for my maxima, but for my S13. currently fastbrakes is offering a 12.2" two piece rotor available with 4 or 6 piston calipers!! this is available for the S13 so i imagine it will be available for the maxima as well. what do you guys think about fastbrakes kits? how strong is the bracketry? how are willwood calipers? i'm looking for the best brakes able to stop about 400whp under hard use. my current number one choice is stoptech, followed by rotora and AP racing. what would you seasoned road course racers recommend in the long run??

wilwood has a great name in racing heritage...and has been race proven day in and day out....stoptech, and ap racing are both great choices, but you could save a good amount of money by going with wilwood instead...check out www.frankencarperformance.com , they distribute wilwood brake kits for cars...I think its through precision brakes a certified reseller of wilwood, only these wilwood kits come with 13" 2 piece rotors and ultralite calipers...4 or 6 piston

The calipers that came with my kit are the Billet Superlite calipers. They are not bad. Wilwood did release their new Forged Superlite (which is the replacement for the BSL, they are MUCH stronger) and I have some sitting in my basement waiting for warm weather

I've only been to Beaver Run thus far. www.beaverun.com It was a 7 hour drive This spring/summer I'm going to Lime Rock in CT, back to Beaver Run, and then near the end of summer, Summit Pt, in WV (They have a new track there)

DGtrials is having a drift event at beaver run this march. it will be the season's opener event. i'm still not sure if i will attend due to my schedule and whether or not my setup will be ready. eventually i would like to make it out to road courses for some time attacks.

Wilwood has a great reputation as well as Fastbrakes. Brian at fastbrakes is a great guy. I worked with him a while back in creating the Maxima kit. Good guy for sure.

www.DGtrials.com will have an event every last wednesday at englishtown starting this march..it's called DOW (drift out wednesday). signal auto came to town last fall. it was a lot of fun. cheston, i'm interested in the 6 piston caliper big brake kit fastbrakes is offering for my S13 silvia. the only downside is that it only has a 12.2" rotor. what's up with that?

Wilwood calipers = good
Fastbrakes = good
Wilwood bleeders = the suck

had the wilwood calipers on my CRX. I race the CRX quite extensively and therefore, bleed the brakes a lot, after about 5 events, the screws would start to stress crack at the opening, allowing fluid to seep thru. not good.

these were the billet dynalites... i'd avoid these calipers at all costs.

ok i'm resurrecting this thread. anyone experience the stoptech bbk? this is the setup i'm aiming for now. it would be a joke not to do roadcourse with those badboys lol. that being said, can anyone hook me up with a deal for 1. stoptech 2. rotora 3. ap racing? greatly appreciated as i'm looking to buy from someone reputable. this is for my s13, not the max =)

1. I've roadcoursed my Max several times and have had my wilwoods on for about 3 years now.. I've rebuilt them once (pop out pistons, scrub the gunk off them with fine steel wool, replace seals, put back together)..

2. bleeder screws- I bought some speed bleeders for them and haven't had a problem- then again, I only bleed the brakes a few times a year even with roadcourse and auto X duty.. good fluid just doesn't need it.

3. Rotora... talk to Shingles about them (shoot him a PM or email) he's a dealer for them.

4. Stop Tech, AP, Rotora... all very good brakes. I would love to have some, but the wilwoods do everything I need to do.. Any of the above will let you drive 100% all day long and never have a problem. the wilwood kit I built myself will let you run about 99% all day long. I have only once run into a fade issue, and it was fluid fade on a VERY hard braking track in 110 degree heat. (Oklahoma at the end of July: 110 in the sun, 105 in the shade, 150+ track surface temps.)

The rotors and even the backing plates on the pads were blue and discolored from the heat. I was told the rotors were glowing orange going into a one of the corners (sweet!)
look at the bottom few pics in this directory for some pics when I got home and put my street pads back on.. http://mattblehm.com/pics/car/hallett/

Are there better than wilwood? Yes. Will a Maxima NEED better? 99.99% chance you won't be able to go beyond their limits.

thanks guys. i'm trying to overkill the brakes for my S13 because it's going to see more drifting and ultimately road course/autocross time this year into next...
