WOW! Pepboys Sucks!!!

K Its a monday morning around 8 in the morn i hop in my max to head to work and poof cloud of smoke starts coming from my hood then it goes away after a few second so I immediatly drive it to pepboys which is less then 1/4 of a mile away from my house they check it out and do a comp check on it and they call me and tell me it was my altinator ($219) I needed a oil change any way so I told them to swap the altinator and change the oil ($40 synthetic oil change) Labor ($112) Computer Check ($85) plus tax which came to a total of around $490 so i pick it up and everything is back to normal till the next day when i look down at the temp on my way to work and see the needle all the way at the top after about 2 mins of driving so i pull over and look under the hood blahhhh !! my fawking bottom radiator hose is completely off!! i was like wtf so i slipped it back on not having the time to tighten it good cause i was going to be late for work i wait till its cool and drive it to pepboys which by this time was a block away I walk in straight up to the manage tell him my situation and he tell me no to come to assumptions by this time i was picturing myself with my hands wrapped around this guys neck for his attitude so i wait around for about 30 mins they tighten it up and put anti freeze back in it im now *****ing to the counter guy which ended with me getting a free synthetic oil change and a very sorry about that mistake so i walk out hop in the max and im off to work only to find my heat isnt really pumping out the boiling hot hair it normally does so (checking the temp gauge every 2 seconds) stayed in the middle pritty much i pop the the hood after i get to work only to find that they didnt fill the reservoir full it we like a centimeter above the minimum line so proceeded by cursing and spitting i pick up some antifreeze and fill it up which fixed my hear prob conclusion watch your *** at pepboys cause they really dont give fawk about your car i guess ::shrug::

another example why I will never go to Pep Boys. Sorry you had to go through that. Just to warn you...in another vehicle of mine, I went through 7 of their "lifetime guaranteed" alternators before I gave up and bought an OEM one.

Unfortunately we dont have many Napa's in Long Island or NYC... but Pepboys and Autozone experiences have been pretty bad for me too.

I went to Pepboys one time to have my codes checked since I had really bad gas mileage.. 200 to a tank, so I figured my Knock Sensor was dead. Talked to guy at the counter he comes out, he sees theres no CEL light on so he proceeds to walk back inside. I tell him that not all codes trigger the CEL, he proceeds to tell me my car is fine and all I need is some fuel injection cleaner and my car will be fine.

2 weeks later I get under my car and run my codes... I had 4... 1 for the knock sensor, 1 for my front 02 sensor, 1 for my coils and another for my knock sensor.

I worked selling parts an auto parts store for over a year and let me tell you the incompetence and lazyness with these people is incredible once you see how they really work.

I've never stepped foot into Pepboys just because of their crappy advertising.

Also, does anyone use punctuation anymore?

Pepboys really does suck.

I have had totally bad experiences with pepboys. They are horrible, when i need some new brake materials and stuff of that nature. I spent over 2g's. After telling some family and friends what i got repaired they told me i totally got ripped a new a hole. I took it as a learning experience, since then i have never and will never go to them to do anything.

Do you need to get slapped twice to realise you should NOT go there?? Go to oreilly auto / napa / autozone and buy one. In addition, get yourself a socket set, a socket wrench and a couple of wrenches while you're there and do it yourself. You don't even have to buy a manual to do it because somewhere on the 'net, there are instructions on how to get it done.

To the guy that had them pull the hoses, well...what can I say? It's pepboys. My aunt's 6-month old camry blew a motor when they didnt screw the oil filter back in right. She, of course, didnt know any better.

If you can't do it yourself because you don't have time for it, but want to do it cheaply, good luck. If you want it done right, do it yourself or at least try to learn how to. Worst case, go to the dealership. At least, the chances that they'll screw up something that major are less likely than if they work on Nissans all day. It hurts to hear people get raped like this...and I got my fair share of raping before realising I could do most of this stuff on a saturday morning and save on labor costs.

I recall having to take my Caprice back 5 times after they did the brakes. One time involved a very heated and terse Email to their corporate office. After the 5th time, I said for repairs. I still buy some detailing stuff there, though.

Pep Boys did me right!

I guess I was just lucky, I had new drive shafts installed on my 99 Nissan Quest, and Pep Boys did a good job. Cheap too!, like $99 each side installed.

I also had Maryland Inspect a 96 Nissan Max, and it passed with flying colors, I doubt they ever even looked at it. MD inspection is one of the worse in the country. Everything is measured.

Maybe you have to keep the repairs to a beginner level.

Don

Ha, i work at pep boys and NEVER let them work on my car, except for the occasional oil change. Most of the guys in the garage dont know a thing about cars, yet they're quick to throw an ASE cert badge on, F$%k that, they get no change at destroyin my car. I do however buy spark plugs, oil, and detailing needs from them. Gotta love everybody who comes into my store ordering APC spoilers for the 86 Gayrolla, I swear it never ends

I wouldn't let Pep Boys put air in my tires! I also try to avoid them for other purchases. They are a terrible outfit. the store near my house always looks like **** and the employees don't give a damn!
