heres the story:
my 02 was burning oil and neither myself or the service dept could determine the cause- so my warranty covered a longblock replacement of the engine. the car was dropped off on monday and a rental car was obtained- all under their costs. the job was started on tuesday afternoon and finished on friday. i stopped by on saturday morning to check out what was going on- to find out that my maxima was not in the shop or on the premises. the service writer told me that a 'manager' had taken it home for the night. TAKEN MY CAR HOME FOR THE NIGHT! and would return saturday afternoon and the car would stay until monday because it was 'throwing a code'. okay i understand you have to test drive the car- but not overnite on a friday with my $3000 wheels and my plate and my insurance.
so i tell them to get my car back to the dealership, right now. the 'manager' who took my car was a technician- and had put nearly 100 miles on my maxima on friday nite. and mysteriously the code it was throwing wasnt documented and had been fixed. like the mechanic was working off the clock- riiiight buddy. so they LET ME take MY CAR home- stating everything is fixed and running perfect.
i went back to work at my dealership two blocks away and wash the oil and grease off my car. there are two paint chips in the door, one on the bumper, one on the side skirt and a scratch on the fender. i run two detail shops and know my car extremely well and these were not there when i dropped it off and could tell the general manager exactly where they came from- using the lift incorrectly, and not blanketing the fender/bumper when working.
i have a meeting monday morning to determine what we can do about this problem because it is wrong on so many different levels of ethics. what i need to know is has anyone had anything like this ever happen to them. anyone have any ideas on restitution that should be paid to me or a phone number besides nissan consumer affairs and the better business bureau?
let me know what yall think
