3M Substitute?

I'm looking to clean the crap off of my headlights, but not trying to order the 3M Plastic Cleaner and Plastic Polish. What else do you suggest to clean off the headlights? Barkeeper's Friend and a scotchbright?

Don't use a Scotchbrite pad whatever you do!

What "crap" are you talking about? A specific plastic cleaner/polish isn't always necessary if you're just cleaning some kind of dirt off of them...

Sorry for not being clear. Visually, it's like a heavy, dirty haze. I've been trying to come up with a comparison, but drawing a blank.

Well make sure the dirt or haze you see actually isn't on the inside of the lens first. Sometimes they get quite dirty looking this way.

PlastX by Meguiar's and Novus, if you can find it, also work. Don't try to be too aggressive in your efforts to clean them. If you're sitting there polishing and rubbing away at it, and it's still not coming out, suspect the inside, especially if it seems smooth and clean feeling outside.

Yeah...it's on the outside. Thanks. I'll see if I can't pick up one of those.

You can also try Mother's Mag and Aluminum Polish. Although not as "strong" of a plastic polish as Meg's or Novus (my personal favorite), it does a nice job on headlights. It does a good job removing road grime and the natural yellowing haze on clear plastics.
