Polishing and Waxing

I know this is in the wrong section but there wasnt anyone viewing the detailing section that could answer me. I plan on polishing, then waxing my car with mcguiars NXT(I THINK). Do I apply the wax right after polishing, or do I wash the car after polishing then wax it. Sorry for the dumb question, i just wanted to see what you guys do. O ya, is dish soap ok to use. I want to strip the old coat of wax first. Thanks

I just checked out a book called Auto Detailing : The Professional Way. Got it from the local library. You should go check it out. Helped me out a lot.
