painting door with automotive spraypaint?
well my door was hit awhile ago and i can't afford to get it painted professionally. while i was at autozone today i saw a can of automotive spraypaint and the lady said they could get it in any color. i got to thinking and was wondering if there was any way i could get my door to look good by painting it with that, ofcourse i would primer it and clear coat it but do you think it would work? why do they even make these cans of automotive spray paint what do people use them for? for 4 bucks i might go ahead and try it instead of spending 150+ to get it done professionally.
Your entire door? I wouldn't do it, there is no way you are going to get an even pattern and consistent color from spray paint. If it were a small area, it would be easier, but no way to do a complete door properly. Plus one can wouldn't even cover your whole door. So it would be more like 2 cans primer, 2 cans paint, 2 cans clear at the minimum. $24 and then you'd be working on it forever for mediocre results.
well there is just a 6"x6" spot i need to paint but wouldn't i have to paint the whole door? well anyways i think i might try it because i can't affford anything else and i hate it lookin like this. i guess when it turns out ****ty ill just have it professionally done. oh well down 8 bucks big whoop. thanks for the input tho. do you think if i borrowed a paint gun and bought paint i could do it properly? i think i might buy this book, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6032 yeah im that poor. haha
Painting a whole car? lol that will be VERY expensive. I recently scraped my car on a wall (about a .5 ft x 1 ft region). It took a whole can of paintscratch paint and clearcoat (ran me $50+). The paint looks amazing, but it does NOT match. I'll bet yours won't either assuming you have factory paint. Therefore you're best off just getting it professionally painted.

i went to a place and bought a can of factory matched automotive paint for 20 bucks and i can't return it so i guess im gonna hafta try it. if not my door ill probably paint the bottom of my front end because it looks like crap. i only have liability and i was hit and run so im screwed.
well im still working on my front bumper it looks better than wat it looked like. haven't worked on my door at all, been busy puttin in my y-pipe and stuff. i actually talked to my friend that works at a body shop and i might have him spray my whole car if me and my cousin prep it for him.
