u can soak it in bleach and they dont lose color
Wash out absorber well as often as possible. Small particles are often picked up while wiping down car, then are rubbed onto paint when drying, causing scratches.
Wash alone or with 100% cotton items to avoid picking up abrasive lint from other items.

If you don't rinse it off before it dries the soap will only attract more dirt and make it stick to the mat only worsening the situation. Plus you still have that dirt from before on the mat without rinsing.

No...if you have an aftermarket intake you need to cover the filter, otherwise you can hose it off without any problems. Keep in mind to let the engine cool before cleaning it otherwise you will get staining and hitting the alloy block with cold water when its hot MIGHT crack it. That's a big MIGHT though and not very probable.

this saturday i spent 4 hours detailing my 2003GLE- washed the car, did a teflon coating (using AURI) which took 2hrs & then vacuumed the car & did the windows with Castrol window treatment (like Rainex, but easier)
Then the rainstorms came, but the water glided right off.

It does offer good protection for a month to month and a half. Now if you want something more durable, you might want to get a polymer like Klasse or Zaino.

For those of us who use the California Water Blade, you might want to rinse the blade off before using. This gets rid of any dust that might have settled on the blade and will prevent your paint from getting scratched from any dirt/dust being on the blade.

One thing that barely gets touched on is....

...cleaning the towels you use to wash your car. We have slaved and toiled over our Maximas to make them shinier than new money. But did you ever think about the towels/mitts you use? How do you clean them? How often do you clean them?

This thread is designed to address that very issue. It was briefly touched upon in the "Cleaning Your Maxima" thread in 5th Gen but I think I am going to elaborate on that further here.

Cleaning Microfiber Towels:
Microfibers can be cleaned using Dawn or a gentle Laundry Detergent (Dreft is a good example). However, they must be washed and separately from other types of towels because the lint from other towels can get caught on Microfibers and render them ineffective.
I usually let microfibers air dry.

Cleaning wash mitts and other towels:
You can wash them like any other towel except that you do not use fabric softener.

Foam Applicators can be washed using just dawn and rinsed.
