Try this on a 6"x6" square. If it doesn't work, don't bother with the rest of your car.
Wash car first.

1. Use an abrassive rubbing compound such as 3M Paint Refinisher or 3M Rubbing compound and rub thoroughly.
2. Repeat.
3. Use a pure polish such as Meguiar's Professional #7 (I think? Someobody correct me if I'm wrong)
4. Repeat.
5. Repeat.

If you see good results, take it to a professional and let them compound and polish the entire car. If you don't, it's over.

I am thinking you may want to polish first and then clay. After claying, you might want to polish again In your case, I'd try something strong like a Medium Cut Cleaner, Light Cut Rubbing Compound, or even Meguiar's DACP. But I'd definitely recommend going at this with a rotary polisher.

With frequent use of a high quality wax and polish, the sun shouldn't be a real problem.

But considering that Luke's near saltwater, I am thinking that was a factor as well. He's definitely going to need a polymer sealant to protect his finish from the "a-salt."

Ouch. Is that what salt water does?

I say try compounding/polishing with a rotary machine and a high-cut compouding pad....whatever was suggested earlier.

I'd like to hear results if you try this.

The primary thing we need to do in this case is remove the oxidation from the paint. This will require the use of a rotary and either if the following:

- 3M PI III rubbing compound
- Meguiar's Medium Cut Paint Cleaner

Then follow that with DACP or Menzerna Intensive Polish to restore the lustre.

Not just yet, we had some set backs because of schedule, hopefully by next weekend things should be coming into play.

The Paint came out fantastic, but still needs some work as far as scratches and dirt in the paint(claybar?)..

Steps:
1) Einszett 1Z Ultra Polish
We went over the hood and roof twice, as well as any major rust spots with a light foam pad (non cutting) then allowed it to come to a haze. After that, we removed the UP with a terry cloth bonnet. We then re-did any spots that were still rough.

2) Einszett 1Z Paint Polish
After using the UP, the finish is glossy, but the reflections are not sharp. This shows that we needed a finer polish on our finish. So, we strapped another foam pad on the craftsman orbital (I dont have my Porter Cable here) and polished the whole car for about 1h 15min. We then removed it with another terry cloth bonnet. This yeilded sharp reflections and a very smooth feel to the paint. We followed up any greasy spots with a fresh terry cloth towel.

3) Einszett Glanz Wax
After doing all of that nice polish work (we arent close to done yet, but its not bad for a first hack) we wanted to seal our work in. What better than, you guessed it, Einszett Glanz Wax. Now, this stuff is something totally different that you have ever seen before. Its thin and runny, its actually lighter than water (the can it comes in doesnt even feel full), but it makes for a smooth finish and hazes quickly. Basically, we applied it with a sonus hand pad, and removed the haze with a terry cloth bonnet.

All in all the paint came out marvelous, and I like it.

Pictures below:

So, did you use a rotary or a DA like PC7424? I have a pretty big job ahead of me and was wondering if I can achieve results like that with a DA. BTW, great job!

I used a craftsman 10" orbital, nothing special. The next stage, I will use my PC 7424.

Did you ever consider using a hs for this job? It seems like you guys did an awesome job. The only problem left is the rock chips, but those will never go away, not without being repainted.
