well someone threw up all over my front seat..and it socked into the carpets and what not..i got all the stains out, and vacume this ****.. but man the smell is horrendous, I put baking soda on it..and air fresheners galore..but its still kinda there..any tips?

 

Can you rent a portable steam (carpet) cleaner from a local store?

yeah you could call me that aha..just cant believe it happened..it went all under the passengers seat, and man it sucks..I mean baking soda seems to be doing the job..advice don't spray cologne or febreeze that just makes everything wet and smells even more ha..

 

naaassty. I would have been bugging out if i were driving. My guess is it's probably going to smell for a really long time, kinda like when you have someone smoking in your car, just doesn't seem to go away that quickly.

you need to remove the passenger seat,get a steam cleaner,and go to town on the effected area,be sure to use hot water and double the steam cleaner soap recommendations.

 

last resort..i checked today and its kinda not there, and kinda like hm..but no longer that strong nasty smell..I guess I'll get an interior detail sooner or later..but baking soda really did the trick..dump that all over then vacuume it a few hours later..i learned my lesson.

 

It will be back on the first warm day..

 

well I just got this thing from Wal Mart..some spray, and then you use the scrubber and it says it will do the trick ahha..We'll see how this goes..

 

i can tell you cause i do this for a living, never spray anything on a puke stain. just wipe up as much as possible and let it dry. then, get some resolve, a bucket of hot *** water, and a brush with a couple of clean rags and spray it, let it soak, wipe it up once with dry rag, then with wet rag lightly wipe up again and then another dry clean rag to absorb all excess smell and/or stain. if its really bad, brush it lightly and then repeat steps over again. it takes a day or 2 for the smell to go away unless you get lucky and the puke is just from your cat.....

 

yeah today I'm going to take some wet rags and try to soak it up or something..there is still an odd smell in the car ha..i mean I'm used to it..but I don't want everyone to think I'm dirty or something when they sit in my car ha.

lmao that sucks man. New carpet? Since you have got most of the smell out i think if you spray it down with fabreeze or lysol now it wont amplify the smell... but i dunno how strong the smell is now. Good Luck.

 

If all else fails you need to rent an industrial carpet cleaner. Pretty sure they can be rented from grocery stores and stuff though. Use the smaller stair attachment tool after you take out your seat and thoroughly clean the area of saturation. Wait until it dries, then go over it again. Sometimes steam cleaners just aren't enough.

I have heard that steam cleaning will break down the backing on the carpet. Does anybody know for sure if thats true or not?

If it isnt, my Max is getting a steam cleaning this summer to get all the dirt out.

 

Doubt it. Automotive carpet has to be pretty tough to stand up over the years. I steamed cleaned the wife's Lexus and my Infinti last year and no problems.

for the puke, steam clean that crap asap. rent if you have to.

but seriously I can't imagine that smell staying in there after a few good cleanings....
