debadge with CD

im not sure if this has been covered but i wanted to just let yall know a little trick i finally figured out...
i just recently bought a jeep, and i debaged it..and it had of course sticky crap after i took the badges off.
My maxima did the same thing i couldnt figure out what to use to get the sticky stuff off. well i finally found a good combo that doesnt seem to scratch the paint and gets the stuff off.
a CD-R and wd40...
the cdr has sharp edges but they are round so it wont gouge the paint, and the wd40 eats the sticky stuff...as well as lubes the scraping those not being harsh on the paint..worked wonders with my jeep....just wanted to pass on what i thought would maybe help some one else out....
so a couple CD-r's
and some WD40..

You're thread title should have been more specific. And why does it have to be a CD-R? A CD wouldn't work?

+1 for the plastic blades. If it's warm enough outside, let it sit in the sun and removing the badges will be a breeze. Goo-Gone for the left over sticky stuff.

Personally... I wouldn't use WD-40 on the paint.

A lot of people use fishing line and run it behind the badges to remove them. I've never heard of that but it's quite common. Plain rubbing alcohol will remove adhesive.

The cheap way out...use a little WD-40 and an old pair of the wifes pantyhose.

You can also use the panty hose and some 7up to get the bugs off the front of the car.

I use a metal scraper and some 3M adhesive remover.Lacquer thinner also works and it doesnt damage the clear.Just polish and wax afterwards.

None of those methods worked for me when I debadged about
a month ago.
I got them off with fishing line and a hairdryer, but the adhesive was just stuck on hard.

I tried goo-gone, rubbing alcohol, wd-40, laquer thinner, 3m's adhesive remover, nothing worked....
I tried scraping with a bondo applicator, cd, razor, etc etc....

The ultimate tool (and easily my favorite) is a product made by 3m.
Decal Eraser or stripe-off wheel as it's also called.
does not harm paint or clearcoat in any way, takes off anything on the surface, and is easy to use!

hook it up to a power drill with included mandrel and voila!

And NO! I am not trying to sell it moderators...

Thats similar to what we use at the shop. The paint has to be polished afterwards.Doesnt hurt the clear but looks a bit dull.
