Restoration of paint.
Hi.
This is my max in a field.
Engine:
Materials:
Meguires Ultimate Cutting compound, plastic restorer, scratch remover, and detailing spray.
Turtle wax chrome & metal polish
3 sets of brushes, soft, medium, hard.
HF 19.99 electronic buffer.
Lots of microfiber towels.
After a quick spray off with the detailing spray, I applied the cutting compound in small sections, usually isolating a single body panel. The trick with the stuff is to let it haze, much like wax, but it takes longer, a good 7 minutes or so.
1st cut:
A week later:
2nd Cut:
I switched between doing body panels and engine bay. The engine bay was all detailing spray, brushes and towels. Working from the back to front is easiest for me because it eliminates cross contamination of grease. Starting on the plastic cowl under the windshield I brushed, then sprayed with detailer, wiped then applied the plastic restorer. Then to the fstb, wipe, spray, polish, you get the idea, moving forward until I was at the intercooler.
Here is the finished product:
The trick is small sections at a time, taking your time, and not getting frustrated at the size of the task, car is big, bolt is small. Cleaning a bolt is easy.
enjoy the carporn.
