I think you are running very rich on top, that can be taking away some hp.

how can I take care of that? My engine is bone stock.Originally Posted by SonicDust187

ok so we have 255HP with 15% driveline loss, it comes out to 218FWHP, I know its not that accurate but still it should be around that number, 200HP is really weak. Im not argueing just want to know the truth about 2k2's. Thats really weak HP #s.Originally Posted by maximadave

The truth is our cars really have about 240 HP at the crank. Factor in a 15% drivetrain loss and you end up with 204 HP. That's exactly whatOriginally Posted by 190hpKiLLA

Is it the variable intake?Originally Posted by Cdriven

**goes to check other 5th gen '02 dyno plots**
I do believe that is the Variable Intake's 'fault' for the dip...take a look at the following dyno plot for an '02 Max with Frankencar and B-pipe.

Don't let the non 2k2 owners freak you out dave. Your numbers are right in line with the average 2k2 6 speed. usually stock it's about 200-208 hp stock. Is it possible for you to get the SAE corrected numbers? I dyno'ed 205 hp and 219.5 tq, stock. I have a feeling the 6-speed tranny eats a lot of power, like... 18% maybe. Also what your seeing at 3900-4000 rpm is the VI switchover.

Dude, an AT or MT stock 5.5th gen will walk all over every other previous gen. Saying we have no top-end is like saying the sky is purple, it just ain't happening... I've pulled on many a cars up to 12x mph with quite a bit of tach left in 4th gear (I have an AT), so we're not hurting in that department.Originally Posted by IwANnAMaX96
Dam. And I thought the 4th gen had no top-end!!!
Those are nice good #'s for 6MT. I hope to dyno about the same when I get my car put on a dynojet sometime in the next few weeks. Ypipe is on, and her pickup is insane at 50mph+...
Yeah, rating should be 240hp/260tq factory ratings. 15% for sticks and 20-23% for autos. FWD can't exactly help on the dynos either.

I thought the typical driveline loss for a 2WD vehicle was closer to 18%.
I believe most 350Z's dyno around 235 hp, but they are RWD...so I guess thats a bad comparison. If Nissan overrated the Maxima's we are entitled to some compensation.

had my car dynoed recently and had a Berk Intake, Cattman Y-pipe and Powertech muffler and gained some good numbers
216.5hp and 221.3tq (2nd run)

Very nice 12hp gain. Our ecu's suck and need help with their a/f. An safc would net you some more ponies when tuned right. I was able to get approximately an extra 8hp outta my safc on my last dyno tune.

cool. where did you get your safc? I'd like to get one myself.Originally Posted by PhxBlue

there used to be a sticky in the 5th Gen section about this...everyone was taking their 5.5 Gen's out to get dynoed to help out with the law suit...
Nothing ever became of it. BTW, my car dyno'd at 204 hp and 218 lb ft.
I guess nothing ever became of it because there is an extra 15 lb feet of torque that they didn't advertise...who knows.
