STP Oil Filter = Bad

I took my car to the dealership for some minor rattles and wheel rubbing... turns out the over-sized STP filter (don't have the model number, but it was recommended in some threads) I was using is too big and causes the passenger front tire/rim to rub against the wheel liner and eventually against the oil filter itself. There's a friggin' hole in the liner from all the rubbing now. :\

Guess I'll stick to the OEM filters. Anyone else have this happen to their Max?

Its not the filters fault, its yours for putting in a larger filter then required. Ive said this since the 1st day I saw a post about throwing on larger oil filters. This is stupid and will do nothing.

OEM size is the only way to go.

Thanks but Id rather stick with the filter size recommended for the car. Will other filters fit yeah, but I dont care for them. If for some reason you want to have a diff filter on your car. Then by all means please go ahead and do it. Ill stick with the correct size and not worry about anything. The larger filter will probably aid in adding to the total oil volume by an .oz or so. Nothing much really, what else, it will last a little bit longer? If my statment is so ignorant (maybe it is ), whats yours on the matter. Educate me about what all the benafits of having a larger filter are. Im starting to get courious here.

Well, it may not matter much..but I've used the STP 6941 for my last 6 oil changes on my 3.o with no issues whatsoever....please don't discount the benefits of higher capacity arbitrarily. If there is a physical reason (dimensional tolerance, etc.) then that is one thing, but just because you don't use anything other than OEM doesn't mean that its the best thing available....Keep up the good work Bill...

I'm glad someone related an issue with the 3.5 VQs, as I've wondered about that. I've got an e-mail archive of those who have used the S6941, and I could almost swear some are VQ35 equipped.
