I don't know if there was a thread before on this, but I shall post it anyway.

Can 2000 Maxima engines work with synthetic oils ... given that synthetic oils (G35 uses it) are more tolerable to temp fluctuations and don't break easily.

BTW, I live in Nothern California (summers 85-110F and winters 50-75F) and my dealer always uses 5W30 viscosity numbers.

Any suggestions...

there is a lot of info about oil here... you can probably just scroll around and find some even with Search broken.

but to save you some time, yes, synth oil "can work" in a maxima engine.

Can you use synthetic in your 2000 maxima? Is a frogs *** water tight? Does a bear sh*t in the woods? Although my dealer says synthetic is waste of money and to just use dino oil and change it ever 3k. pshhh dealers....

Any car can use synthetic. If you live in cali, you should use thicker oil; 10w30 or something. 5w30 is for cold weather if I remember correctly.
